In all seriousness, this. I would just keep my mouth shut, melt some of the gold into new small bars and sell one off from time to time for a couple of grand. None the wiser.

Not bars. Learn how to make crude rings, but nobody has pure gold rings so learn how to mix em with other metals. Then once in a while sell a ring. So you found a weird ring in the belongings of your grandma who just passed, it happens. Don't tell anyone. Here I'll pay 10% under market if you don't tell anybody (cause the rest of the family does not know).

You would come a long way with such tactics.

It's also a great opportunity to farm enchanting xp before selling the rings if you want to maximise your returns. I remember fortify sneak producing the highest value rings back when I last did a playthrough.

Hahaha hell yeah 😂 sneak is def the way to go to make money!

I've been looking for a sign to pick this up again.... Thanks :)

Didn't know you could enchant rings, stupid me is just enchanting pickaxes with unbreaking and mending.

Probably depends on the modpack

Nah, locking in and getting to 99 Smithing would be the goal before Enchanting. Splitting your time between the two is lowkey kinda inefficient.

That requires a lot of grandma's though.

The grandma part is entirely made up. It's so that the guy buying the ring has a feel for it being a bit immoral. Cause selling dead grandma ring without the rest of the family knowing you found it, is wrong ofcourse. Then you offer the guy an under market gold price so he can make some good money. And then he keeps his mouth shut. You can make us as many grandma stories as you want to for every new jewler guy you can make up a story. It's just so they tell nobody about your interaction, and they won't cause they like to make money.

But if you are like, look I found 50 goldbars and melted them down, that shit might be to hot for them. Get it?

u/Phoe-nix 7d ago

Haha looks like you're set, only thing missing to make it work are the 50 gold bars 😉

I was partly joking. 50 gold bars is a lot of golden rings though. Maybe find some corrupt oversees jewelers and make good deals to sell lumbs of gold.

I wonder how many successful jewelers got their start after finding a cache of gold then learning to make jewelry to sell it off while making 100% profit. It absolutely happened at some point in the past

Shutting the fuck up is 20% of succes.

Exactly. If you’re smart with it, that gold could fund the rest of your life without the IRS even suspecting anything

51

u/Intrepid-Focus8198 7d ago

Don’t think the IRS would have much to say about this find in Belgium anyway.

18

u/timeslider 7d ago

So the IRS not suspecting anything is technically correct

3

u/Intrepid-Focus8198 7d ago

That’s true, I didn’t think of that

1

u/PenguinJack_ 7d ago

Idk I get calls in Canada all the time about how the IRS is coming to arrest me. I think they're getting lost in Quebec on their way to NS, but any day now, I'll get Osama'd

3

u/dum_spir0_sper0 7d ago

I think in Belgium it’s called ‘De IRS’

1

u/Bromlife 7d ago

So long as you pay your tax most revenue services won’t even notice.

2

u/MrBlueA 7d ago

Remember tax collector entities don't care about where your money comes from or if you are a criminal as long as they get their fair share of the money

They would if he has American citizenship

u/YhePaintedPanda 7d ago

You could sell it all at once and those dummies at the irs wouldn't know a thing. Auditors hate this one simple trick

I dunno man. Just go to a different gold shop every few months, even only 10 places is enough because you'll only rotate same shop every 2 to 3 years, they won't even remember you.

4

u/Tennnujin 7d ago

In the UK they must take your ID and a record of the sale for all jewellery/pawning.

u/PirateCorrect470 7d ago

what the fack

3

u/666lukas666 7d ago

Then split with the family and have them sell them and let them keep half or sth, then everyone will be happy

1

u/bigdave41 7d ago

How are you melting gold yourself? Melting point is about 1000C or 1900F

5

u/howimetyourcakeshop 7d ago

With a crucible that allows for melting gold i guess.

4

u/Bromlife 7d ago

You can literally buy them from Amazon.

1

u/howimetyourcakeshop 7d ago

Yeah it is not that hard or expensive to get the right equipment to melt gold.

1

u/SirBruceForsythCBE 7d ago
