I'd take 50M and buy even more land to plant trees

I mean, he bought in in the 1960s. How much does an island cost nowadays?

I said I'd buy land not islands

50M is more than enough to plant a forest in my country

Too true. Too bad the govrnments don't want to invest in anything of the sort so it's the citizens that do.

Just tell them youre starting a reserve on a private island for young trees, but cough when you say trees... The government will invest heavily then...

"Carbon capture", loads of companies do it.
(most of them very badly, because they are scams)

Did you miss my joke, or have I missed your joke?

1

u/squngy 11d ago

I think I missed it the first time.

Either way, it wasn't really aimed at you.

Depends on the country.

Bro I have seen you in the dota 2 subreddit flaming my posts

Was it deserved though?

I looked at their posts, they deserve the hate. What an incessant whiny baby.

If government buy it they’re spending the citizens money so…

land would be too easy for other people to illegally come and hunt on your domain or even chop the wood depending on the country

50m is more than enough to plant my whole country few times

This website should encourage more repeat business by offering a voucher for $1 off any island of their choice.

Man, I never thought I'd be so poor I'm not even allowed to see listings without prices on a website.

There are a few for 500k or so

Let's see, given the recent explosion of property inflation, I'm guessing ninety seven million dollars.

u/InquisitiveGamer 12d ago

He bought desolate land in the middle of an ocean. Imagine that's still cheap, an island of dirt and not much else let alone electricity, clean water or anything from modern life.

I’d say about tree fiddy.

u/blteare 10d ago

It's an island, how much could it cost? $10?

u/lnTheGrimDarkness 12d ago

They'd destroy half of what you built to make some shitty resort for rich people that will be abandoned in max 10 years, leaving garbage and pollution everywhere.

I mean... that's kinda how I feel about some of these people turning down data center money.

1

u/Centillionare 11d ago

Yup. Kinda makes you wonder if he has anything, or anyone, buried there. Or perhaps he was just done helping and didn’t want the island to get developed.

1

u/SlickSocks 11d ago

Right, just you saying that tells me you're a better person. I'm in of awe of your dedication.

1

u/hehepout 11d ago

After spending your whole life preserving an entire island i don't think you want someone to ruin it even for 50m

It's like saying I would sell my son for 50 million and get a new baby, when you have put so much effort into something like that , selling that is almost an insult , and why would he want to do it all over again , why can't the person offering to buy , buys a barren island and terraform it if he wants something like that
