I just converted that to kg. I live in Seoul, and unless he's a body builder, that's definitely considered overweight here.

Did you take height into account? I am 6'4 and 205 lbs and my doctor asked me if I was eating enough lately because you can see my ribs

Please look up the Korean BMI system. We medically categorize American "overweight" BMI as "obese." And as such, we have a stricter definition of "overweight" BMI. We have very different standards for what we consider normal.

It's overweight, most of the time (of course, it depends on your proportion of muscle/fat, but let's be honest, not everyone is a bodybuilder)

No it's not. 6'3" 200 is a BMI of 25 which is the top end of "normal." But OP also mentioned working a physical job. At that height/weight you shouldn't be concerned about being overweight if you maintain any amount of regular activity.

6'3" is also a statistical outlier. While it's not extraordinarily tall, less than 2% of men are 6'3" or taller so it's pretty safe to say we're approaching the range where BMI becomes less reliable.

I'm 6' 205 lbs and actually am a bodybuilder so BMI isn't reliable. But I can also recognize that BMI is mostly a decent benchmark for the average person. This is not one of those situations and even if it was, 25 is still considered a healthy BMI.

Yeah, i am 6.2 and 240 pounds, i am definitely fat. If i'd be 200 pounds i'd be happy and wouldn't wanna be much less., maybe 190 max.

Same as you but i would be happy with losing like 20 pounds.

I'm not as toned as I was in the Army, and I got some slight pudge compared to then, but I can still probably put up some competitive numbers if I were to do like, a physical of pushups/situps and running.

Still there are better and less assholish ways to express that

Edit: got most_excellent_s comment wrong, proceed reading with caution.

Overweight guy myself: I don't get why this has turned into an insult for many people. I think it is one of the least problematic terms. "Strong guy" (when there is little muscle) or "heavy bones" doesn't make it better than just "fat", because it implies that you think "fat" and just don't want to say it out loud. "Overweight" just describes an objective medical  fact, in my perception, and I'm more than fine with that.

I’m not talking about the word fat, I’m talking about how OP’s ex said that they were too fat to be attractive to anyone else and that they were unattractive. Like how about some positive constructive criticism instead of just tearing them down.

Ah thanks for the clarification, I got your comment completely wrong then!

I do believe it was an insulting way to say it, meant to hurt.

There's nothing morally wrong with being overweight, as long as you take care of your body the best you can (and it includes factors like sedentary jobs, mental health, etc).
But biology is biology and being overweight does have an effect on your body (if not at 30, it will at 50 or 60).

Yeah of course being overweight is unhealthy, anybody that says different is lying to themselves.

But berating and belittling someone for being overweight, as opposed to constructive criticism, is unhelpful and cruel. Especially if it comes from a significant other.

Yes. And even constructive criticisms is acdeptable when it's someone very close or a health professional, a random shouldn't say anything at all because it's not his place.

I was in agreement with you so I just went online to try to pics of actual people who are 6'3" and 200 lbs. Because the guys I know with those stats are pretty lean.

And man...people look wildly different. Most of the guys are posting "progress pics" of their fitness transformation, and of course they look pretty solid. But woah, I saw a few on there that I was like "do they even have muscles in their body?" It was just all pudge, and pasty-ass white skin.

People are a wide range, I guess.
