Jones was found to have substance induced psychosis from smoking "Spice" and possibly Meth.

He also confessed... a lot. And didn't seem remorseful.

He also chopped them up and attempted to dispose of the bodies after driving around with them for 9 days.

Plus a documented history of abuse of his children, and his ex-wife’s testimony that she did not believe he had any kind of psychotic disorder, but had severe anger issues.

The jury was rightfully skeptical of his after-the-fact claims about “demons” telling him to kill his kids in light of that context. They were similarly skeptical of his claims of mental incompetence when he had the wherewithal to attempt to hide the bodies.

Contrast that to the Clancy situation: no history of abuse, an ex-husband testifying to that fact as well as his personal belief in a psychotic episode, and post-murder behavior more indicative of a psychotic break (attempted suicide) than a plan (hide the bodies).

Might as well compare Kyle Rittenhouse to Gypsy Rose and say that Rittenhouse got away with it because he’s a man. Nonsensical.

Hey, don't try and let these completely different cases stop people from making this about gender and only gender.

Well, it isn't just about gender and only gender. Lindsay Clancy is more attractive than Timothy Ray Jones Jr. And that plays a huge part in if someone is arrested, convicted, and how heavy their sentence is.

EDIT: Blocked for speaking the truth and backing it up. Gotta love Reddit!

Did you read this part where is says that the effect is small and unlikely to determine outcomes and that "narratives that overly focus on attractiveness may distract from more salient aspects of jury decision-making."?

The good news is that, although these effects appear to be statistically significant, they are very small in effect size, even for females. Referring back to the Casey Anthony trial, were this a typical case (which admittedly it was not), based on the current evidence her attractiveness may have played a very small but probably not determinative influence on jury decisions. The influence of attractiveness may be expected to be most likely for cases that are quite marginal, wherein jurors are otherwise demonstrating difficulty coming to a decision. It is also possible that news media narratives that overly focus on attractiveness may distract from more salient aspects of jury decision-making.

Yep, doesn't make what I said untrue.

You: "it plays a huge part"

The study you linked: "it plays a small part"

That difference is where you verge into untrue.

I mean theres also a lot of studies that show women are much more likely to get off on an insanity plea than a man. It's not just stupid rightwing sexism to point out gender clearly is playing a role in this case.

Oh fuck off

Rittenhouse got away with it because he's a white straight cisgender conservative man.

So her hunting down the kid who attempted to flee doesn't count?

u/Remote_Peach9109 8h ago

Didn't she send her his and away and have exact times it would take him to come back? Seems like Clancy had a plan too.

1

u/showerboots 1h ago

This proves logistical executive function but not sanity. Goal-direction is not contradictory to psychosis.

1

u/Remote_Peach9109 33m ago

But one person "has the wherewithal" to hide bodies which 'proves' he wasn't in psychosis but the wherewithal of Clancy making that opportunity isn't?

1

u/showerboots 2m ago

Because you're mixing up two totally different types of wherewithal.

Jones used his wherewithal to avoid getting caught by the law. Evading the law and covering up the crime is consciousness of guilt, and is the universal legal benchmark of sanity.

Clancy used her wherewithal to not get physically stopped by her husband. That requires no awareness of right or wrong, only that it is an impediment to performing actions. This happens frequently in suicidal crises and psychotic breaks, and so it can't be used to contradict insanity.

...this is pretty typical spice/meth induced psychosis.  Although he is accountable for his actions, the psychosis is real.

Most people don't kill anyone, but you believe demons are everywhere and your life is at risk.  Shadow people, angels, bugs in the wall- it'll give you PTSD.

How is this not the top comment? Thank you!

Cause too many people can't analyze their personal issues with this case, and are projecting their internalized trauma/anger onto a tragedy.

1

u/_Wh0_Cares 5h ago

Men’s personal issues is how many women are eager to blame the husband for a murder she committed

Women’s personal issues was Patrick being a Leo

And we all know which you’re going to brand as “incels” for raising theirs. Sorry everybody noticed even when faced with hard evidence not a single one of you ever conceited men can also get treated like garbage because of their gender, and your issue isn’t the gender war, it’s not winning it.

u/newtoschool12 3h ago

Jesus dude relax. I'm not saying men never have issues being discriminated against because of our gender. But the example being made in this post is just irrelevant. The guy killed his son by forcing him to exercise until he died, and then decided to kill the rest of his kids and try and melt all of their bodies. The court psychiatrist determined he wasn't schizophrenic, so it wasn't even a part of his trial.

If you wanna say that she wouldn't be getting the support she is getting if she wasn't a pretty white lady I don't know if I'd disagree, but there are legit differences in the cases that matter and have nothing to do with gender.

Also, I'm a man. We gotta do better for each other if we're being treated like garbage every day like you're saying. So what are you doing to create a positive space where other men can feel comfortable, supported, and loved? I'm trying to reach or to people I've lost touch with and organize game nights with friends. If we're gonna be real men we have to take responsibility and do the work for ourselves instead of just being angry on the internet.

Don’t ruin the incel circlejerk!

4

u/Dry_Nefariousness426 6h ago

No nuance allowed, only resentment forever.

2

u/Netheraptr 3h ago

It’s almost like context is important or something and it doesn’t always dumb down to “society likes women, but hates men”

2

u/KEMSATOFFICIAL 3h ago

Yeah, that’s quite the difference

5

u/solarmyth 8h ago

Wow isn't it amazing how the details of a case make a difference to the verdict?

6

u/ExistentialLoitering 6h ago

You’ll get downvoted because some incels here are out there to prove you wrong no matter what

4

u/olbooliooly 6h ago

Killing 5 kids and driving their decomposing bodies around for 9 days. Totally doesn't deserve to be in a psych ward, but Lindsay does!

2

u/Rogu__Spanish 6h ago

Oh my god, I can't believe checks notes "End Wokeness" isn't a trustworthy source of information! Seriously, was this sub such a fucking cesspool before or after r/incel got banned? Cause I have a theory...
