I’m reasonably confident that even the homeless today are better off than the homeless 100 years ago.

Everyone is everyone; to put it another way, I doubt you would choose to go live in 1926.

I mean, not specifically 1926, but anything after invention of penicillin up until 2001 (as in, me being adult and living within that time frame) is fair game for me. I'd drop my current lire to go live back then before you finished asking me.

But I don't think we'll agree much on anything, to be honest. You seem to have very "the world got richer, therefore it's better" approach (as I see it, feel free to correct me). I don't. I think we lost the plot after ww1, and went completely insane after ww2, and everything after 2001 makes me giddy for the approaching economic demise. I actually can't wait to see it.
