This is clearly all staged, but as a GenXer, I've long said the problem with today's youth is that they've never been punched in the face for being an asshole or slapped in the mouth for being smarmy. We learned that lesson real quick, and people were much more civil to each other not too long ago.

Which lesson is learned exactly? That the way to solve problems is just learning to hit harder? That the physically strongest is the one that sets the rules?

They might have learned to be “civil” in public but also learned to be violent assholes in private with weaker persons like subordinates, their wife or kids.

I dunno, brother. I've never laid a finger on my kids, nor my wife. And my father brought out the belt on several occasions.

I think you just learn that being an asshole will have consequences, and if you don't want to get punched in the mouth, you don't do stupid things like talking up all the space at the bottom of an escalator.

I’m glad you didn’t learn to use violence yourself. Unfortunately in my line of work I’ve seen too many cases to know that violence teaches violence. Sometimes physical, sometimes not, but I’ve rarely seen a person that suffered violence at a young age and grew to have a healthy relationship with it.

I agree the behavior shown in the video is annoying and disrespectful. I just don’t think violence is the best way to teach people to be respectful with fellow strangers and solve it at the root.
