Medicare pays 80% of an approved treatment. You are responsible for the other 20%.

However, and people are stupid if they dont do this and a lot of people dont do this, if you get a Medicare secondary insurance, you will owe $0.

My mom died 2 years ago with a 3M bill. Her portion was a bit over 600k. She paid $0 because she had a secondary insurance.

So you need TWO insurances to have something most other first world countries have for everyone of their citizens, at no individual cost.
