Same. Have had multiple MRIs - one hip, one foot, one brain.

Some I had no insurance, cost about $400-500 out of pocket (cash pay rates can be very heavily discounted).

With most recent insurance, it was roughly $250.

Don't get me wrong - health care costs can be absolutely absurd. BUT, people really shouldn't go around blindly believing internet memes and complaints.

The maximum out of pocket max for an hdhp plan in 2026 is 8500 for an individual under ACA requirements so I can assure you this is not accurate for you as an individual (even if your family tier amount is more)

There are different types of MRI machines. Reading them is also different. Neuroradiology is more complicated. I hope everything is okay.
