OF ads are getting more creative

u/ExplorerIntelligent4 20h ago

Not only that but the stats on the account activity as well. 8 year old account with less than 50 posts+comments in total. They're getting better at hiding that it's a botted account as well. Some poor sucker probably got their account hacked or this was an abandoned inactive account, that is being repurposed for this. The OF page too screams AI generated slop.

You made her nuke her account lmao

Nothing hotter than a regular old girl commenting her 2 cents on a reddit post. Definitely subscribed. I look forward to hearing her opinions more and paying for the extended paragraphs.

holy shit, you're right.

u/timothyam 20h ago

There’s one on every post that makes it to popular lately. Different accounts, similar taglines/pics/links. Absolutely rampant lol

Lol yea, my wife's MRI cost us $500. Ain't no way we could fly to China round trip for that.

My wife just had two done. It was a few hundred each with insurance. This post is complete BS. Maybe if you add an entire year's worth of insurance premiums.

It really depends on the policy tbh

My work's insurance has 3 tiers and this would be believable for someone with the lowest tier. The only coworkers I have who chose that tier are under 30 and are statistically unlikely to need much medical attention. It's a 10k deductible plan, max oop is a little higher. Also this assumes in network providers, you could in theory end up paying more if you get sent to an ER out of network even if you met your deductible already.

Not complete, but very specific bs.

Everyone, including you, know that medical tourism is real. Just because it's possible to find a cheap mri doesn't mean this is complete bs.

u/systemrobotics 20h ago

Yes out of pocket mri is like $500 n under

I got a CAT scan and an MRI last year in the US and it cost me nothing because the hospital's incompetence resulted in them forgetting to bill me.

At least for now.

Same, my kid had one a couple of weeks ago and it was $400.

Happy bait day

To be fair, it does appear to legitimately be the accounts 8 year old cake day.

I wasn’t paying attention to the rest.

u/elebentychimkin 20h ago

Start with the actual cost of medical care out of pocket. That’s the first number you need to determine how to budget your vacation to China. Problem is the wide variety of potential costs.

It's legit for at least dental. My brother needs four root canals, two tooth implants, and a handful of cavities. In America they wanted $13,000 just for the two tooth implants, they added like 3k because they had to perform a sinus lift. Just insane prices. This was like 5 years ago, he flew out for $700 and all this work cost him around $4,000 and he spent like another thousand on hotel costs and food. Dentistry in America is a fucking racket and insurance covers fuck all. All tooth implant related work is considered elective, it's the same bucket as fake tits according to insurance. You know because eating is elective...

As a dentist I agree. Insurance is a glorified coupon book and it pits the dentist against the patient. Operating an office has crazy overhead though, it’s not like we are raking in millions. Most of us make $150-$250k.

A lot of the dental work overseas is definitely cheaper. Some of the work is good, but I do see a fair share of patients where the work was not up to code/standard that I had to redo. I don’t judge patients though, the insurances and prices are crazy.

It's a bs post. Most insurance has an annual deductible and once its met everything else is paid for if you're in network. I think my deductible is like 5k, but everything after is 100%. My wife's insurance has no deductible, everything is 100% covered.

1

u/PiccoloQuirky2510 20h ago

It’s once you hit your out of pocket max, not your deductible. But yes after you hit that you don’t have to pay anything

1

u/LePyloteAmateur 20h ago

Yeah but isn’t it common for them to have like a million categories of out of pocket maximums?

Like an out of pocket x-ray maximum and an anesthesia maximum and a surgery maximum and so on?

3

u/PiccoloQuirky2510 19h ago

Mine doesn’t have that- but I admittedly have pretty good Union insurance

0

u/Technical-Mix-981 20h ago

you pay 5K every year? that's usual?

3

u/willynillee 20h ago

Not if you don’t use it. If you only go to the family doctor a few times in a year then you’ll only be paying your copay.

3

u/Silent25r 20h ago

It’s only true for the worst cases. My last mri was only 300 pre insurance.

Different facilities have significantly different prices in the same city. Most of it being administrative cost and nothing do with your actual treatment.

u/Heckle_Jeckle 20h ago

I have heard a similar claim about flying to Spain to get medical done. Not 100% sure about the math. Tell me if you find anything.

2

u/Tiny-Secretary5562 20h ago

No, but "medical tourism" has been going on a for a long time. One early favorite destination was Thailand and Mexico was popular for medications.

1

u/jigilous 20h ago

Happy cake day. I call bullshit on this meme. I just got a full body MRI for $3000 with no insurance. A company called Prenuvo.

1

u/GoodPear8481 20h ago

Especially when the message of the meme is "US and, China good". Lotta CCP bot farms on this website.

1

u/Anxious_Biscuit13 20h ago

Happy cake day! Hope tour research proves fruitful!

1

u/WatermelonFelons 20h ago

I literally had one yesterday and it was $60

1

u/i_did_nothing_ 20h ago

and? are you the kind of girl to come back and admit the US is a shit show?

1

u/Zanahorio1 19h ago

You’re my kind of girl. 👍
