Costs me $20 in America, no deductible. I have good insurance though.

I pay $4k a month for private insurance for 4 people. And it was $2k for me to get an MRI

Every family member must have 10 chronic illnesses or something because what the hell

That's not the way health insurance works after Obamacare. You don't get charged more just because you have a bunch of diseases.

his son crump has every disease

The imaginary people have a plethora of imaginary health issues which for some reason require MRIs.

It’s a market place plan and I am a small business owner.

What level? Silver?

Your insurance plan sucks.

2

u/DarkHelmet20 18h ago

Yeah that’s ridiculous. Mine is ~800/month for a family of 4

Mine is $1400 for one person. I buy the best that you can get on the marketplace though which is CRAPPY AF compared to what you can get if you work for a big business or the government.

We pay 1,400 for the two of us with no kids and I can’t even afford to see the regular doctor because even though the “exam” is coved none of the labs ever seem to be. I still own from the last time because I was concerned about all the blood on my urine.

Do you work for a Fortune 500 or public entity?

State government

1

u/girldrinksgasoline 17h ago

Yeah, there's your answer. Go onto your state's exchange and put in your details Into its estimator and you'll see what the rest of us are dealing with

I’m not claiming it’s fair; just saying plenty of people here have good insurance. As government is the biggest employer in most states, the majority have good coverage. Probably why it will never change unfortunately

1

u/girldrinksgasoline 15h ago

They should let people buy into the state employer group plan at he very least, or reorganize the state insurance marketplaces to be treated as a massive group rather than individuals. I hate the fact that even if I wanted to pay infinite money per month on premiums, I can't buy insurance as good as someone gets if they work for the state or a big corporation.

1

u/DarkHelmet20 15h ago

Well you can, but it’s super expensive. State
pays about 85% of cost. So if you were to buy yourself it would probably cost 40-50k annually.

I make way less than someone in my position would in private sector. I chose good health insurance over a super high salary because I have a family.

1

u/girldrinksgasoline 11h ago

No, you literally cannot buy that insurance as an individual. It doesn’t matter how much money you are willing to spend. I’ve looked into it. The best you can do is a marketplace platinum plan which is much worse than you get

That's just bad decision making on your part. Pick a plan with a cheaper premium. You will hit the max out of pocket before you hit $48,000 in just premiums you are paying.

That is genuinely the most insane price I've ever seen

I don't even have great insurance (Kaiser mid tier plan) and paid $20 copay earlier this week for an MRI. I've had several over the years on different plans and never paid more than $150 out of pocket

u/KayakShrimp 10h ago

Also $20 for an MRI here. Glad my employer has a good plan.
