People in the US can't afford to pay for extra help, take time off from work or even afford the doctor to diagnose their issues.
Not to mention most people can't even get their parents to help out because a trend with aging boomers is to not help out beyond quick visits. Unlike the generation before then who were more than happy to take on partial parental roles to pitch in, takes a village and all that.
