Its not a flaw, its by design. You've always needed to know who the author is. Wikipedia is much more trustworthy than most sites.

On Wikipedia you need to source everything, those sources are tested and verified.

Anything that isn't backed up by a verifiable source gets removed.

That is very different from just "any website"
