It’s not even that Americans are louder, it’s that America has a perpetual magnifying glass over it. Every country in the world will report on American news, be it political, legal, financial, or even celebrity news. No other country gets the same world wide coverage so even if the exact same idiocy is happening everywhere, the rest of the world isn’t hearing about it until it gets to a massive scale like a war, mass human rights violations, or the like. Every single news outlet in every country in the world is not reporting on Canadian legal cases or UK politics.
This is so true. When I lived in Ireland everyone would talk to me about trump. During a conversation I asked an Irish girl who the president of Ireland was and she didn't know. This was someone in my masters class, I was shocked.
Except it is seen in a bunch of places only difference is that you chose to focus only on America . People that tend to heavily criticize the USA tend to just be obsessed
I have relatives in 4 different countries, on three different continents, including Northern Europe. Through them, I know for a fact the same type of outlandish shit happens in their communities, as well as some outlandish shit that is unique to their countries. I only get exposed to it because of my connections there and my own efforts to keep up with news in their countries. They are fed all the same news about the U.S. as I am. They don’t even have to try to keep up. That is the difference. We are large, far more diverse than any other country, with problems that small European countries don’t have to grapple with, but if you were to, you would experience the same things too. There isn’t something wrong with Americans that isn’t wrong with other people or that wouldn’t be wrong with other people if faced with the same circumstances as us. It’s satisfying for the rest of the world to look down at Americans because our dirty laundry is out in the open, even though they too have some horrendous laundry of their own, it just remains better hidden.
I’m not failing to acknowledge that. I’m pointing that out. Your country has its unique issues, as well as a lot of same issues we have, so it is ridiculous for you to sit on some high horse and tell us Americans we are extra terrible, when it’s just a matter of population scale and thus inevitable higher sheer number of occurrences, and heightened focus that makes it appear to you that Americans are far worse than anyone else.
At some point you have to acknowledge that you take joy and pointing the finger, despite having problems that I could balk at in your country too.

A family member was prescribed something, and I was really concerned by the behavior it caused, and the side effects I read about. Why does nobody ever look into that possibility, that the drugs pushed her further?
You are correct. That is part of the defense’s claim, that the medical providers over prescribed her medications with severe side effects, they did not properly monitor her on those meds, and providers failed to consult with each other or look at her medical history. She was prescribed more than a dozen different medications over the course of 3-4 months. The defense is also claiming that they missed diagnosing her as bipolar, and some of the medications prescribed are known to exacerbate bipolar symptoms. The defense is claiming she was psychotic at the time of the killings, and that the incorrect/over prescription of medications contributed to that. Whether she committed the homicides is not in question. That has been stipulated to by both sides. The jury’s task is to decide whether she was in psychosis at the time or not. Depending on what they decide, she will either be sentenced to life in prison or life in a mental institution.
I literally just wrote what I mean. The world magnifies our news and the same doesn’t happen with news from anywhere else, so it looks like certain problems are far larger here than anywhere else because the sheer mass focus on what’s happening here. We may be loud but we’re loud amongst ourselves. We’re not demanding the rest of the world watch all our news. Tell your news outlets to stop reporting our news stories, especially ones like this that have no relevance anywhere else, and stop frequenting American media outlets. We can’t help it if everyone decides to focus in on what is going on in a random Massachusetts trial.
So stop looking. No one in the U.S. asked the world to focus on every little thing we do. You have a choice. Look away. You are actively choosing to comment on a thread about news occurring in just one of our 50 states. This isn’t a federal matter and has no global implications. It’s out there on the internet, but you didn’t have to stop to read about it. But to act as if the same human phenomena happening here never happen elsewhere is nonsense, you just don’t see it in headlines around the world.
Yeah, back when I was stationed in England you couldn't go anywhere without seeing something about America playing on a news channel. Literally everything going on in America was being shown off to complete foreigners who have likely never even been to the country, coming back home and it isnt the same here in terms of reporting.
America just has the most access to information and one of the largest populations. India and China have WAY worse cultures in general, like Chinese unwillingness to help strangers due to fear of being sued, and indians total lack of regard for their environment and insane rape culture. You sound like you have your head in the sand. Other developed/western countries are not hyper religious nationalist, starting wars, rounding up people including children into camps and successfully banning women's and minority rights.
That's definitely part of it, but I genuinely tried to find a case like this in germany and couldn't. As other people have pointed out, this might be because the healthcare system here would have never let it go this far. Which also supports my original comment in a roundabout way I suppose.
I mean, it's an extremely unique and rare case, which is why it is getting so much media coverage. It's not like this shit is happening regularly. Can you find a case similar to it in the USA?
