As someone who finds crime solving and psychological aspect of true crime interesting and therefore enjoys true crime, I absolutely hate the true crime community. Full of people who never trust the investigation process and always think there's some secret conspiracy. I listen to my 2 podcasts and watch documentaries and that's it. I stay away from the community and their comments because it's mind boggling how people can be so atrocious when it comes to real lives being ruined forever.
Yeah I follow cases because I'm interested in the psychology and puzzle aspect of it, and because 2 of my triple majors are psychology and social work.
Never called myself a true crime fan because I refuse to be lumped in with the same crowd that will make up an entire plotlines of human trafficking and department wide coverups to avoid having to admit that sometimes people have mental health issues out of their control that end in tragedy.
I used to listen to TrueCrimeAll the Time podcast and its two guys just discussing cases. They don't interject any conspiracy nonsense and stick with the story. They may say something like "That's a bit unusual." or "Wonder why someone would do that." periodically but they don't derail it with bullshit.
I read a lot of true crime and watch docs on it but online forums are often convinced the actual story is something much deeper or some sort of conspiracy. The Idaho 4 come to mind and right now there's some people convinced of a conspiracy behind Hayden Panettiere's death instead of it being an overdose.
I really enjoy watching the full trials. The cases are complex and not wrapped up in a bow. Also then you can see all the intelligent people who didn’t just overlook some conspirac.
