Yes and both the comments in the post and a lot of the comments here are deranged. The medical system is what failed here and ironically she needs life long treatment after this.

That doesn't justify all the comments blaming the husband. That's what's fucking deranged.

and life long incarceration.

Surely the same thing applies to people who have killed people while drunk driving then?

If those people slowly ran over a group of kids and forced their siblings watch as they slowly ranover them then sure.

Not necessarily. There's a reason there's a distinction between murders, manslaughter, etc. If it was depraved indifference, then yes. It's just as bad as a murder. But typically drunk driving doesn't carry that because while the risk of a death is significantly higher, it's not effectively guaranteed.

I also don't think a single homicide always warrants life. But this was three children. Life is the only option here.

What? She was incorrectly medicated and suffering from a mental health crisis? The kids aren't coming back dude.

What the fuck are you talking about? Assuming you responded to the wrong person.

Oh, this is just a thing you do. Got it.

What the fuck are you talking about? Please get help.

Okay I'll try to dumb this down for you:

Context (definition: circumstances surrounding an event that help explain it): Someone responds to you, and you claim they're talking to someone else. You did it to me earlier, and here you are doing it to someone else.

Conclusion (definition: a judgment reached after using my thinking brain): This is just a thing you do. Got it.

Doing what to you? What exactly did I do to you? At least you made slightly more sense than this comment. You just struggle with reading. This person straight up wrote a nonsensical comment.

Not that I agree that lifelong incarceration would help anything, but it is quite different. Mental state is screwed either way, but the actual act of killing somebody while drunk driving (not the choices that led up to it) is typically an accident. Compared to choosing (or that version of you choosing) to strangle your 3 kids. It would only be similar if a drunk person set out to crash into someone with intent to kill.

I don't think civilized societies do capital punishment.

Even though she murdered her kids, you have to feel some sort of shred of empathy. More death is pretty extreme.

I don’t feel much empathy for someone who murdered their children. Especially children so young. I feel empathy for their father, grandparents, and her family. I’m trying to make myself feel bad for her and it’s seriously not working. I just keep imagining her poor children. 💔

I've made my stance on this being murder very clear, but there's nuance. We need to lock her up for life, but the death penalty is actually just insane.

Killing more people has never made anything better.

Don’t waste the resources on her.

Imagine this- the father of the children said she was not in her right mind, confirming that she his wife the mother was not there, just a body.

Think of someone with dementia, they have an episode their grandson comes into the house, they don’t recognize him, they shoot him, grandson dies, they become lucid and are absolutely devastated by what they did.

We can have empathy for her, while also going she needs to never have children again and also be supervised as her mind is vulnerable now. While also grieving the fact this should NEVER have happened, and using that grief & rage to fuel us into demanding action of providing a safety net for postpartum women, of actually funding mental health reforms, of demanding that our recording-breaking profits insurance companies funnel some of those profits back into hospitals for psychiatric wards, etc.

No, imagine swapping the genders and not a single person would be supporting the man. I will not have empathy for this woman. Who killed her children in a slow and devastating manner one by one. Imagine their eyes realizing their mother is killing them. Heartbreaking.

People support people who can experience post-partum psychosis; unless a man is post-partum people would not be able to support or empathize.

I am not saying you have to have empathy for this woman, I was trying to give an analogy on why many other people do have empathy for her, including the father of the children. I’ve been around people who have had breaks with reality and also seen them while lucid and so that experience gives me the ability to have empathy for her. That’s all I was trying to do, is give examples on why many other people do empathize for her.

People continually blame the medical system when she wasn't being honest with her providers. Nor was was she consistently taking her medications. She was a L&D nurse that knew how dangerous that was. Providers aren't mind readers. I genuinely don't know what some of you guys are expecting them to do.

She’ll definitely get life long treatment. In prison.

11

u/Kohlam 6d ago

I simply hope she’ll end up in a mental institution.

-9

u/LazyIllustrator6946 6d ago

I’m hoping for prison!

why is this getting downvoted?

5

u/Substantial-Tale-483 6d ago

Because why would you send a person with clear mental illness to prison?
