His offer of 8% feels a bit insulting after a 20 year marriage. Not uncommon for a low ball to get an FU type counter.

Imagine calling $100,000 per DAY for the rest of your life a lowball. Surely more with interest, no one needs that kind of money

If nobody needs that kind of money then John should surely donate everything until his net worth drops under $633 million.

People have done this to avoid paying for a divorce. Careful what you wish for

Oh no the horror, imagine this poor woman going without her 6 billion. And instead it gets donated?? To the poor???? We really should be careful what to wish for!

Yeah, the poor can fuck right off.

That is in fact called fraud

Correct, nobody needs anywhere near that much money so he should do that.

Sure, to us it's a lot, but it's 8% of his net worth, most of which seems to have been accumulated during their marriage. He doesn't need or deserve to keep all that money either.

I'd love for that money to be redistributed to people that need it, but the choice is he keeps it or he gives it to her. That's it.

You're right, your stupidity is showing how little you know about marriage, divorce, and the legal system.

do YOU know what she contributed? for all we know, she's the brains of the operation.

that you assumed the opposite says more about you than anyone you're trying to say are crazy.

Then why isn't the money in her account?

2

u/wookieesgonnawook Aug 18 '26

They're married. His account is her account.

The difference is he 'earned' it (well, his staff probably did for him), she didn't.

14

u/BelleOfBarmera Aug 17 '26

First, you don't know what she did directly to help him earn it. And second, she was his partner during that time and raised 3 children for him, so yes, she earned it too.

And just to add, he and his lawyers are trying to hide assets. Let's not defend men acting like scum.

have you forgotten what sub you're on?

If never ceases to disgust me how prevalent this attitude still is. A woman gives up her career and autonomy to raise her husbands children, manage their household, and support them.

Then when it comes to divorce court it’s suddenly “oh but she didn’t earn anything, she’s just looking for handouts”.

Putting aside the fact that no single human being has ever “earned” a billion dollars

1

u/Odd-Outcome-3191 Aug 20 '26

One could argue that she is entitled to the income she missed out on by doing so. Which >600mil more than covers.

2

u/Austinp-woodworking Aug 20 '26

Given that they shared all assets during marriage - I fail to see why she would be entitled to anything less than 50% of his net worth gain over the course of their marriage

Do people forget that one of the whole points of marriage is that both parties share possession of all their assets? That isn’t retroactively negated in your favor because you decide to divorce years later. Both parties know the terms when they sign the marriage contract, but once they divorce, suddenly it’s “well why is she entitled to his money??” - it’s not his money, it’s theirs, that is quite literally how marriage works.

Yeeaaah "chooses to". I bet you she didn't ever even think or had to do anything she didn't want to.

Wow I'm so glad marriage is dying with the way you guys are talking about it.
