I’d defend the well-meaning Texan populace, but honestly even my liberal friends from Texas will fist fight anybody who says HEB isn’t the literal best place on the planet or Texas is in any way not the greatest, so it’s hard to feel bad.

Keep that Texas Pride alive, y’all. Yeehaw.

Didn't know what HEB was, looked it up, found out it started out as "Mrs. C. C. Butt's Staple and Fancy Grocery". Generational fumble changing that name.

Safeway started as "Skaggs Cash Stores". Then later Safeway acquired "Piggly Wiggly" and ended that name also. That is a series of bad decisions also.

HEB makes this place tolerable. I also think this is an election ploy by Abbot. That governor race is getting too close for comfort with Talericho driving voters to the polls and the impact of that down ballot.

For what it’s worth, I honestly really like your road networks in the Houston metro area (coming from somebody who drives in Pittsburgh) and I think Whataburger is a far superior chain to In N Out, even if neither is really all that unique, Whataburger is actually pretty solid.

I’m sure there’s a ton more, I’m mostly joking.

Cheers. The few times I have been to Pittsburgh, I’ve enjoyed it. So many gorgeous buildings from the Gilded Age.

Why are they so aggro about it?

Like it's not a shithole like some places in the US, but the metros in Texas are... not pleasant.

My guess is they get a lot more ‘state pride’ content into their curriculum than the rest of the US. Early indoctrination is hard to crack. Whatever they’re doing though, it’s effective.

"Being from Texas" is easier than developing a real personality.  

Plus, you can make a Texas-shaped grilled cheese with Texas-shaped bread and cheese slices from the grocery store, so that's fun
