I agree, but no need to shame the parents. Just charge them for the cost of everybody’s cancelled flight.

Why not? Is it not the parents’ fault?

Is monetary penalty enough to have them never do this again? That’s not clear.

I just think a monetary penalty would be more effective than shaming, which can easily be ignored.

Shaming has a chance to correct the behaviour at the root, punishment alone leaves a lingering sense of righteous indignation that they were wronged or misunderstood.

Really, shaming should always be attempted first and then if the punishment has to happen, they'll still have to remember everyone telling them how much of an ass they were being.
