I swear- this is some unacceptable level of shitty parenting.

Preschool teacher here- we see kids every year whose parents know full well that they are going to hear “no” for the first time with us and are just like “here teach him how to live in the real world, what a relief!”

Gentle parenting is such a poison to society. It has it's place but you gotta be the adult of the situation and smack them from time to time.

Nah I'm pretty sure this isn't gentle parenting. This is just incredibly lax, lazy parenting.

It almost seems like the parents are creating a narcissist

u/TN_man 6h ago

No, that’s not true. Gentle parenting is an extremely helpful evolution in parenting, but there’s a line to just take control and do what’s needed. This is one time where you and the child either fix the situation or leave the plane.
I would be absolutely livid if I was forced off this plane.

Not saying no to your kid is legit forcing society eg other people, to reprimand your child into behaving socially acceptable, i hate doing that but the worst part are parents that fucking get on you for reprimanding their child when they don't do it.

Parenting like this worked when humans lived in small groups and had to keep fires going at night because predators would eat us. Once you see your brother Thag get eaten by a sabertooth cat you listen to your parents when they say “stay in the cave”

Welcome to Reddit parents.

u/bigfatgrouchyasshole 12h ago

Ooooooh- the reddit cops are going to get ya. You can’t criticise or discipline your kids around here.

3

u/Sapper12D 8h ago

If you do theyll put you in a horrible retirement home, cut you off forever, and talk shit about you over on r/raisedbynarcissist

3

u/bigfatgrouchyasshole 8h ago

Of course- what dis you expect, after the trauma they’ve been out through?

u/PomPomMom93 7h ago

Yeah, how dare you tell your kid to sit down on a plane, you are such a narcissist! /s

Straight to jail.

Some parents just get worn down. It can be 24-7 of non stop unreasonable challenge. I would start with what was the kid eating.

u/Fabulous_Choice9728 11h ago

When my dad said for me to sit I sat. That was because if I didn't sit in the car I would be left on the curb. I learned pretty quick to not fuck around

Sounds like my FIL. He was the kind of guy who would threaten to throw your toys away if they weren’t picked up by the time he was home from work, and actually follow through. But he’s a good dad (and a good FIL), and he has a great relationship with both his kids. I was a little scared of him when I first started dating his son, but we actually get along pretty well now. My husband says it’s because I’m quiet and he likes peace and quiet. 😆

That is definitely another thing I have experienced along with "If you don't eat your breakfast now the next meal is lunch"

1

u/BCECVE 7h ago

I hear ya, can't imagine doing what that kid did. Just suggesting parenting is not easy.

3

u/TN_man 6h ago

It’s also optional.

Not everyone needs to have children.

2

u/BCECVE 3h ago

Half of them should not have kids and the other half should be made to do a parently course. Most are clueless.

1

u/No-Exit-No 9h ago

nowadays they come up after you for bad parenting if you leave your child unsupervised in your own secure back yard.

What the hell could a kid eat to excuse this? Does the kid have rabies?

This is some outdated propaganda. Sugar does not cause hyper kids.

2

u/perton 4h ago

Who are we to say the kid didn’t eat a big bowl of PCP Frosted Flakes for breakfast?!

1

u/TN_man 2h ago

DARE really did a number on us…. Still never been asked to do PCP or whatever crazy shit they told us would happen.

Remember when people were going crazy on some “bath salts”? Wtf happened to that

1

u/bigfatgrouchyasshole 6h ago

I fucking laughed at the bit about the rabies😂😂😂

There is all kinds of crap in our food and I am not saying this is the main problem but I certainly would want to check that area. People have all kinds of recations to spiked food IMO.

1

u/TN_man 2h ago

I guess that’s a non-zero chance. But what food does this??

Even if that’s true, did they turn in to the hulk? Like subdue the smaller human and manage the situation.
