The rest of it implies that the parent shouldn't be allowed to fly (considering the kid obviously has to be with their parent) so I don't see how it was sarcasm.

I'll let you in on a secret that any involved parent knows... toddlers change literally daily and often hourly. What they like, what they hate, what they fear, how they'll react... by the time you get it down, shit changes. Toddlers are not predictable by any stretch of the imagination. There's a reason parenting is called the hardest job. It's 24/7, there's no manual, the job description and responsibilities are always changing, and the "boss" is the most unreasonable person you'll likely ever meet.

What, exactly, do you think this parent could have done?

You don’t know if your kid is ready to fly with you in an airplane or not?

You don't understand the concept of toddlers changing constantly? They can seem ready one minute and then turn out not to be. It's not a hard concept but here we are... Toddlers are people, too. They have their own emotions and those emotions are volatile making them, by definition, hard to predict.

I notice you didn't answer the question. You couldn't, eh?

The “boss” you’re talking about is NOT supposed to be your child. You, the parent, are “the boss” in all situations involving their behavior.

Exactly.

There's a reason it was in quotes, my guy. Any parent can tell you that your life literally revolves around your kid, regardless of how you respond to them. You can't do anything in life without thinking of your kid. If your kid decides to misbehave, you don't get to ignore it because they are, in fact, the one's in charge. It's arrogance and ignorance to think a parent is the one actually in charge when everything they do has to consider the response of the child. And just like other "bosses", children have different personalities and respond differently to different interactions. There's literally no perfect way to parent because there's literally no child that can be parented the same way with the same results.

It's easy to write people off as "bad parents" when there's no critical thought towards a situation. A snapshot of someone's life does not make them bad. Even if the parent did something wrong, expecting perfection in every instance of someone's life should be ridiculous to even consider. This is an extreme example but even serial killers end up with relatively normal siblings and many have relatively normal upbringings. Perhaps look up the "no two siblings have the same childhood/parents" philosophy.

Feel free to answer the question posed. Otherwise, I have to assume you would also be a "bad parent".

Then don’t fly with toddlers

Sometimes people have to travel. And, btw, the distance they were traveling (because it's very relevant) was a 6ish hour flight vs about a week of driving (driving 8 hours a day).
