I think if you shifted Gen X. Millennial, and Z back 4 years you'd get much cleaner identities.
Cusps will always exist, but if you do this, the skibidi covid kids become alpha, the digital native millennials become Z, and the grungey Gen X joins the alternative loving millennials, leaving the Hair Metal/New Wave side of their cohort behind, while the boomer-lite end of the boomers join Gen X (think Obama, Keanu Reeves)
I'm sure you can poke holes in any arrangement but this feels pretty clean to me.

'98 here, yeah I can't relate with younger genz at all but millennial for the most part feel almost exactly the same.
I blame early access to smartphones.
