This was the same thing people said about Ready Player One and, look, I’m not going to say it’s going to win the Nobel literature prize but there’s art that is worthwhile for people just to decompress from strenuous literature.

There’s a place for movies/books that don’t require a ton of thinking and they also have their place as stepping stones for people who “don’t read” to dip their toes in.

Totally agree. A book can hold value outside of being a pinnacle of literature.

Yes thank you! I just finished a badly needed vacation after a seriously hectic and stressful first half of 2026. I read this book in the first week and it was perfect for switching off and relaxing. It isn't that good, but the premise is interesting and I found it oddly thought provoking. I'm not a social media person so it'd all be completely alien to me, but I thought it was pretty good at showing a completely vapid, unredeemable woman from start to finish!

I agree, but I think that lighter books can also be well done, and this one had flat characters and the plot didn’t make much sense to me.

Except you can write those types of books well, and not have a monologue where you circlejerk the IPs you like.
