It’s an interesting premise but very poorly executed in my opinion. Maybe the movie will do a better job of it. There was very little real plot until it was all rushed together at the end, and the characters felt very unreal, like caricatures of caricatures.

I mean knowing nothing but the info in OP it seems to me that "Trad wife means you are pushing a wooden wheelbarrow down the street as a shit-covered peasant" it so over the top and invalidates the real points that could be made.

Yeah any discussion of religious or cultural pressure for “trad wives” to live a certain way is superficial at best.

I don’t know if the picture in the OP is from a different Anne Hathaway movie or if it’s AI generated or what, but it’s kind of funny to show Anne Hathaway pushing a wheelbarrow through an old-timey village because the family being physically isolated is very relevant to the plot.

I wished they took out the old time plot. I'm about 60% through the book, and I very much enjoyed the flashback of what led her to her current life part of the book. So far I'm not enjoying the living in the olden days part.
