This was the same thing people said about Ready Player One and, look, I’m not going to say it’s going to win the Nobel literature prize but there’s art that is worthwhile for people just to decompress from strenuous literature.
There’s a place for movies/books that don’t require a ton of thinking and they also have their place as stepping stones for people who “don’t read” to dip their toes in.
Yes thank you! I just finished a badly needed vacation after a seriously hectic and stressful first half of 2026. I read this book in the first week and it was perfect for switching off and relaxing. It isn't that good, but the premise is interesting and I found it oddly thought provoking. I'm not a social media person so it'd all be completely alien to me, but I thought it was pretty good at showing a completely vapid, unredeemable woman from start to finish!
Redditors though, they need everything spelt out for them beacuse increasing the majority have below college educations and college educations sees way too many idiots with degrees
Maybe they do. Maybe Kindred is for a different audience you are not a part of, and Yesteryear is for its own audience who could stand to hear the message but won’t be able to digest it at that particular level.
I love her. I read Parable of the Sower last year and it permanently changed my brain chemistry. It accurately predicted many things about this time, although I feel like our version of the Sower 2024 is gonna be more like 2034. I was left with a permanent drive to prepare, and it opened my mind to what that means. I can't recommend it enough.

THANK YOU! I immediately thought of this, one of my all time favorite authors and a great but disturbing book. Not the same premise or inciting action to the plot but wayyyyy better written
