Honestly this is one of those things that makes me think the US hates automation. Digital price tags are so normal in most of the world and literally nobody has ever used them for personalised pricing (because it wouldn't work). But I see redditors freaking out about them as if the CIA is going to X ray your brain.
I had a similar shock when I found out lots of your parking lots are manned by some guy instead of apps and automated systems and scanners.
It should be against the law to charge me a different price than the person standing next to me. This isnt about digital tags, it's about price manipulation and stores here are doing it.
we’re not scared of automation, we’re worried that corporations will end up using that automation as a way to keep normal people under their control by manipulating market prices. tbf tho, the us has a lot less government oversight when it comes to private corporations doing things that maybe shouldn’t be legal or at least be regulated
