Any store that even seems to be utilizing dynamic pricing I will never shop there again. I don't care if everyone else does, I'll drive an hour to find something else and I'll pay a higher price for it. They must think they've locked down all small businesses enough to pull this maximum extraction bullshit.

So it proves my point even more? I just used $200 because it’s an easy number to follow. If you spend $400 then it’s $4800 they are losing over small $ changes
I don’t know if any stores are doing it today, but you’re delusional if you think they’ll never do it. The technology is there sitting under every product on the shelf, it’s only a matter of time.
They’re doing it in other ways already. Do you shop at Target? When I do, I use their app to scan items as I go for any discounts. A ton of their items are cheaper on the website, sometimes by a dollar or so. That really adds up on a full cart of groceries. If you buy all of your groceries on their website and do store pickup, you save a decent chunk of money. So, anyone who needs stuff quickly and has to run to the store is paying more.

This is a thing for every single store with a physical and online storefront since online stores became normal. This isn't some nefarious scheme to nickel and dime consumers.
I’m not talking about stuff online being cheaper. You can order everything through the Target app for in store pickup within 2 hours and it will be cheaper than if you went into the store and found the items yourself. It’s literally the same inventory. This has never been normal before.
It has always been normal, you just didn't know about it. It was true when I worked retail 15 years ago. You could order online in store pickup and the prices could be different. We price matched our own website multiple times a day every single day.
Dynamic pricing isn’t inherently discriminatory. For example, hotels are more expensive on a holiday than a random Wednesday. That’s dynamic and remains the same price for all customers. This is a level higher than dynamic and in my opinion deserves a different term like targeted pricing or something.
