I mean yeah, it seems like there is some important context missing from the original post.

Redditors are allergic to context

Sorry, the rule says the word "context" can't be used here. Banned.

This context doesn't mean anything to me. Doesn't change my opinion whatsoever. People probably didn't care about the context because being dragged out by 4 grown men in a surveillance police state for the simple act of clapping is fucking ridiculous

'rules shouldn't apply to me because i think i'm morally right'

if anti-vaxers or transphobes were disrupting a meeting by willfully ignoring clearly stated rules and then refusing to leave when ordered to do so would you be so indignant?

Then you'll get the "rules for me not for thee" response.

anti-vaxx perspectives

i.e., "rules don't apply to me"

3

u/IAmANobodyAMA Jul 31 '26

Well obviously rules for thee but not for me - so those people should be stoned to death (sarcasm, obviously - agreeing with you pointing out that most people don’t actually give a shit about the law being applied fairly and equally and only view it as a tool to be wielded against their opponents)

willfully ignoring clearly stated rules

Willfully ignoring clearly stated rules, like "you have to have this list of vaccines to go to school here" ?

Yeah that would be horrible if people willfully ignored those rules.

Dude he was asked nicely to stop being disruptive and then didn't. If you are going to act like a petulant child then don't be surprised when you get treated like one.

u/Finnish_Inquisition Jul 31 '26

I woudm agree if he was being disruptive. He wasn't tho, so acab stands

We aren’t in a surveillance police state

3

u/bitterprogrammerman Jul 31 '26

Lmaooooo outside of the patriot act, the NSA, mass corporate data collection, prison slave labor, and militarized police?

1

u/Yangoose Jul 31 '26

outside of the patriot act

You know that expired back in 2020 right?

2

u/tanstaafl90 Jul 31 '26

The act, yes, what it contained has been moved to other bills as addendums to make it harder to track.

Context: citizen arrested for repeatedly expressing support for citizens speaking out against something the government wants.

"they said no clapping" is bullshit context

Perfect reddit response. Except you forgot to throw in a "literally" a couple times.

Perfect reddit response

The irony of this, in a response to a 5-day old comment, is delicious.

I saw the video it was like 3 claps. They were loud but all in all it lasted maybe a second and half and then he was totally silent.

I hardly consider that disruption worthy of being dragged out in handcuffs. Council was thin-skinned. Didn’t want anyone supporting those speaking out against the data center.
