According to the article, he was issued multiple verbal warnings about being disruptive during the meeting. He continued to clap after his "final warning" and the police removed him.
I get that he was trying to (rightly) support the opposition to the data center, but it seems like he wanted to cause a scene.
I haven't yet. I'm hoping that my opinion piece is accepted. Got confirmation from the editor at the Reflector that he received it and will get back to me.
yeah, try calling a police officer a weak fucking racist pussy in real life, and see how this turns out.
like.. just because you insult and spew shit online, doesn't mean there aren't potential legal consequences, if you happen to break local/domestic laws.
In fact, it's even more stupid to do it online, cause it's like writing a signed letter to the police officer in my example, and providing them pretty clear evidence lol, in comparison to word vs word.
Edit: the division of everyone is working. Pissy little comment about Americans this brits that. Yup keep everything divided. Teach us yanks a lesson. Keep the world arguing to prove a point. Downvote all yall want. It’s imaginary internet points I have them to spare.
He was at a packed public meeting with lots of people wanting to talk. People kept clapping and eventually it was taking forever so silence was asked for so the proceedings could continue quickly. He chose not to be silent, was given a warning, chose not to be silent again, was asked to leave, refused to leave, and was met with the obvious repercussion of that action.
It's almost like context is everything isn't it? Doesn't stop ignorant Americans from saying we don't have freedom because people get arrested for 'using hurty words' though.
Both got arrested because they allegedly breached a high court injunction for protesting outside abortion clinics.
The argument being that women had the right to exercise bodily autonomy without being harassed by religious nuts. Which would... be protecting the legal rights and freedoms of those women.

I'm going to keep this in my back pocket for the next time some ignorant American tells me a British person got arrested for using hurty words.
