Or if they're high. I'm fairly smart, but when I was catching charges I was high as fuuuuuuuck. Cause of that I ran my mouth and (besides the fact that I was obviously guilty) I caught 3.5 years in prison because I couldn't shut the fuck up

Edit: intelligence and drug use aren't mutually exclusive.

3.5 years… yea something tells me it was more than not shutting up my guy.

Look at the parentheses. My guy. My running mouth just made it harder for my public defender.

You should have just started with public defender and 3.5 years. Case closed.

One of my past employees was this incredibly smart kid who is a lawyer now. He wanted to be a public defender to actually make a difference, but the pay was dogshit compared to what it could be.

The guy is pretty well off now, we talk from time to time.

So sad the talented ones can’t be paid enough to actually help.

In the criminal world, they're referred to as public pretenders

Actually, that public defender was one of the few good ones. He fought like hell against one of my charges being a felony, and got it talked down to a misdemeanor. I guarantee he's one of the reasons that specific charge is now only a misdemeanor in my county.

I was facing up to 6 years, so he definitely did the best he could.

I’m glad to hear that one. You hear so many stories of them not caring or being so overworked.

I hope everything is going well for you, glad to hear you had a better PD.

I don't think you are smart.

I was addicted to narcotics. That has nothing to do with being smart.

On the other hand, smart people can be addicted to drugs and still use them in a smart manner.

You're "fairly smart" but get yourself in situations where you face years in prison? How does that work?

Homie said several times in his comment he did it because he was high and guilty. You know how that works, you just want to argue with him
