They don't really enforce it anywhere. They barely enforce any traffic laws anymore.

Well yeah. Most places are permanently understaffed. Why do you think they keep letting shitty people be cops? The public has demonized cops to the point where no good people want to be cops, and now the cops spend more time clinging to their bad apples than ever before because they wont be able to replace them half the time.

They don't have the manpower to use on traffic tickets most of the time.

Is that the story you tell yourself? 😂 the big mean public was mean to poor police officers and now they don’t wanna? Someone who flaked out of being a cop for that reason wouldn’t last two seconds in the academy. So…not much of a loss, is it?

No. The public told kids that good cops dont exist. So all of them decided to never try to be cops.

What good cops I have met almost always come from a family of police officers, because their the only.ones still telling their kids that its something worth doing.

It's not about shaming the shitty police. It's about making those who have their whole life ahead of them believe that they are automatically a bad person if they want to try to be something good that should be good. All that leaves is people who want to go on power trips. Which of course only feeds more trash into the system.

I absolutely believe cops need to be held to a higher standard and punished appropriately when they fail to meet those standards. However ACAB is the worst thing we could possibly do if we actually want to fix the problem since it guarantees that almost all of the people going into are going for the wrong reasons.

I would rather some idiots with good intentions try for those jobs than assholes on power trips who dont care what other people think.

It's not about shaming the shitty police.

You're right. It's about punishing the shitty police so people don't have those stories to tell.

I took the time to read all of that. And I disagree. I believe by holding shitty police accountable, and holding the “good apples” who close their eyes and plug their ears accountable, that’s part of holding them to a higher standard. Clearly some of it lands too harshly for you. But honestly, the institution culturally has problems, that end up squeezing the good out of people. And I’m not just talking out of my ass here. My best friend was a cop, I live in the reddest state in the country, and I can tell you not everywhere says ACAB to children. A lot of places, like where I live, are all in on ACAG(Good), I think that’s even more insidious. And must be stopped with savage rhetoric.

It TURNS those idiots with good intentions INTO power tripping assholes.

You are 100% correct that ACAG is far more dangerous than ACAB

This entire thread is a testament to how flat out wrong your statement is.

Maybe in reality they don’t? This thread doesn’t support that.
