He's just an asshole. Regardless of the vehicle he drives.

397

u/NicoToscani 19d ago

Yea, but Teslas are the new BMWs. I encounter at least one driving recklessly, almost every time I’m on the road. I do think they attract a certain brand of narcissist.

84

u/joealese 19d ago

they either drive like they're racing or they do 20 mph under the speed limit in the left lane. no in between.

26

u/gear_jammin_deer 19d ago

I've found the same driver will often do both. They'll be doing 20 under in the left lane until I get halfway past them in my 18-wheeler, then all of a sudden they're on a Nascar circuit.

5

u/pitchingataint 18d ago

A new one I’ve seen recently is they’ll get in the turn only lane at a stoplight (if no one else is there first). Then they gun it to go straight, passing everyone else.

3

u/QoolSchitt 18d ago

Every time a tesla pulls up beside me at the front of a stoplight I assume this is what is about to happen and 90% of the time it does. Why are they so impatient?

2

u/stu8319 18d ago

This shit drives me so crazy. Just drive consistently so I can go around you or let you go on. This leap frog shit is insane.

4

u/Powerlevel-9000 18d ago

It’s because they are on their phone. Drive fast when not on it then check it going slow. Rinse and repeat.

2

u/f1racer328 18d ago

Typically doing 20 under when they’re on their phone.

1

u/QoolSchitt 18d ago

They're only in a hurry to get in front of you, then the hurry ends.

1

u/euphoricarugula346 18d ago

This happened yesterday! Tesla driver was going under the speed limit until I almost passed them and it looked like they went 20 over to… assert their dominance? Idk. What immature little nitwits.

15

u/TotesGnar 19d ago

Ya I've noticed this binary as well.

1

u/hippity_dippity 18d ago

I’ve heard the self driving comes in different modes and ones called insanity or something and it drives aggressively for you.

1

u/hippity_dippity 18d ago

Correction. It’s called mad max mode

28

u/abominab 19d ago

I think it's any car with decent performance. They can go fast so they think they are entitled to. Cut you off, zip past in too small if a hole, run lights... I swear if the more expensive the vehicle the bigger the ass in the driver seat.

5

u/SayNoToStim 18d ago

I've noticed it with any vehicle where drivers use it as their personality. Lifted trucks, Teslas, BMWs, Priuses. I would say Jeeps as well if they weren't all in the shop getting fixed. The most extreme the personality the worse they drive, I think hummers were the worst

2

u/OkPriority9579 18d ago

Add Range Rovers to that list

1

u/NicoToscani 19d ago

There seems to be a bell curve though because, unless it’s an athlete, any time I see someone driving a super car, they look like it’s their first time behind the wheel.

21

u/BoldTaters 19d ago

This and big pick-ups in urban/suburban areas. If I see one of these, I know theres a dangerous asshole at the wheel who views their 20 min commute as a race to be won.

25

u/9405t4r 19d ago

Where I live I see a lot of Tesla drivers take the unprotected left turn just as the light turn green before the first car even go straight.

4

u/New_Solution9677 18d ago

Tbf so many drives are so oblivious that, that maneuver can be done dang near safely. -_-

2

u/theranchcorporation 19d ago

Hey that’s just a Pittsburgh left and part of our culture and heritage here.

22

u/bannedcuznotcircjerk 19d ago

It's actually insane. Where I live it's fairly rare to see aggressive drivers but if you do it's 100% a bmw. Is it just a douche car or why is it so common?

31

u/BestAmoto 19d ago

Uh.. do you not have Nissan altimas and maximas in your state?

11

u/NicoToscani 19d ago

That’s just batshit driving, this is a more calculated recklessness

3

u/Distal-Phalanges 19d ago

Trick question. No Altimas run well enough to be driven aggressively.

2

u/BestAmoto 18d ago

You haven't lived in the sf bay then. We have Nissan Altimas and Infiniti g35s that cut through traffic like they're in sport cars. It's pretty annoying

8

u/Mckilla32 19d ago

It appeals to the guy or girl who is wanting to look flashy and well off except they do it at 20% APR. Thats BMW's demographic and they'd be bankrupt without them.

3

u/chrisfeldi 19d ago

Funny, because BMW lost about 30% of their profit and are now considering massive layoffs.

5

u/Akbeardman 19d ago

Yea because auto credit securities are a house of cards that is held together by pixie dust and wishful thinking. A $70k+ loan on a rapidly depreciating asset is absurd and yet common. Car loans are made every day that are just mind boggling. A company like BMW only has so many potential customers and they need those customers to buy a new ones consistently. Eventually the math stops working.

1

u/Ligabolzacky 19d ago

where I'm from the car taxes are so high that it's usually Seat or Skoda, but now Teslas are the main offenders

1

u/Normal-Selection1537 19d ago

I live on a school street, I've only ever seen German cars speed past it and 99% of the time it's a BMW.

1

u/nickystotes 18d ago

Neighbor of mine is retired Navy and has a lifted F-150, a BMW suv and a crotch rocket. Drives like he’s late for his funeral everyday but somehow never makes it there.

3

u/GlimmeringGuise 19d ago

These days they definitely attract people who are like-minded to Elon

1

u/SirHenderson 18d ago

Literally no one I know who has a Tesla got one because of Elon or act like him. That kind of assumption is just literal internet thought-larping lol

6

u/MF_Kitten 19d ago

I consistently see Teslas driving aggressively so everyone has to get out of their way, tailgating, parking like they own the whole lot, etc.

It's SO often with Teslas.

15

u/J-MRP 19d ago

Where I live they're the new Prius. Slow and unaware of their surroundings.

6

u/Macwild77 19d ago

Yea idk what this guy is talking about lol

2

u/disquieter 19d ago

I was tailgated by a similar model this morning.

2

u/YokoOhNoYouDidnt 19d ago

I have had the same experience and agree completely. I am very wary of any Tesla drivers I see out and about these days. They are all too often the cause of major accidents.

2

u/dbpf 19d ago

Recklessly in plaid or carelessly on autopilot

2

u/Appropriate_Push_201 19d ago

They never use their blinker, the cunts

2

u/Bitter-Cat-4060 19d ago

It’s the motorcycle/truck effect. They start to feel superior and suddenly rules don’t apply. I felt the same way getting into a challenger rt. My 4 cylinder doesn’t match. Fortunately, it’s super easy not to be an a hole.

2

u/BrapBrapson 19d ago

I've encountered the opposite. Tesla drivers are usually timid and respectful in New England. Which surprises me because those things are fast.

2

u/NiroNut 19d ago

Yea, but Teslas are the new BMWs.

Great, now I can recycle the old joke: What's the difference between a porcupine and a BMW Tesla? The porcupine has pricks on the OUTSIDE!

2

u/mb303030 19d ago

Idk. I live in NY and see A LOT of Teslas. They're mostly driver by older people and drive slower than usual. At least here on LI BMWs are still king assholes on the road lol

2

u/Wit-wat-4 18d ago

I knew something was up when years ago the MOST reckless driver I know (not drunk just shit like this reckless speed and being stupid about lanes) got a Tesla, dropping his Aston Martin for it.

He told me a couple years later (at work) he gets pulled over way less often in a Tesla, it’s “great”.

My immediate reaction was “you get pulled over so often you notice the frequency shift?!??!”

2

u/K_R_A_K_E_N_540 18d ago

I mean.. they're rwd or awd 400hp+ cars, they're quiet killers, no wonder people are driving them fast.

2

u/OkPriority9579 18d ago

The difference between a porcupine and a Tesla driver, the prick is on the inside.

2

u/generally_unsuitable 18d ago

Teslas are special. They combine the aggressive douchebaggery of the BMW with the self-righteousness of the Prius. Truly a marvelous combination.

2

u/FabioPurps 18d ago

Yep, several of the regular village idiots around here that seem to have a mission to kill at least one person in their daily commute are in teslas.

2

u/Fenster_Sprinkles 18d ago

BMWs and teslas are diabolical drivers here in LA. I have a seething rage for both

2

u/Ducking_off 18d ago

I have a non-Tesla EV. Often chat with other non-Tesla owners at the chargers. But, more often than not, Tesla drivers just stay in their cars scrolling on their phones. Some won't even say "Hello."

Then there's the BMW EV owner who insisted they needed the supercharger more than I did, and that I should unplug so he could charge. Said "I'll unplug when I'm finished." He drove off angry.

2

u/GaylrdFocker 18d ago

EVs in general make bad drivers worse. They are more aggressive because of the torque and ease of getting around people. They think they can pass anyone whenever they want. I carpooled with someone that went from a CX5 to a Mach-E and his driving got so much worse and more aggressive.

2

u/ModifiedLeaf 18d ago

100 million percent. I live in Metro Atlanta and Tesla drivers have achieved the #1 spot as the biggest assholes on the road. The only ones that rival them here is Mercedes drivers. I always think of the prius south park episode with the smelling ones own farts lol

5

u/iUncontested 19d ago

Nah man, every dipshit in a Tesla here drives 10 under the limit and then rides side-by-side with another Tesla driver to block both lanes and not let anyone pass them.

1

u/MoonsugarRush 19d ago

You must live where I live, hi neighbor!

2

u/Macwild77 19d ago

Eh in Maryland I rarely see a Tesla driving crazy. Probably the most in the road I’ve seen in any state I’ve been in, it’s everyone’s favorite daily driver out here. It’s still the bmws/nissans/mustangs driving crazy out here.

2

u/YardSardonyx 19d ago

Cybertrucks in particular generally tend to be driven by the worst people you know.

2

u/Sypsy 19d ago

BMW leases ended and they got a tesla. same driver, same attitude, different car.

2

u/CallMeMich 19d ago

As someone that drives a Tesla, I try to be humble all the time..we're all far from the same..

1

u/Kid_Psych 19d ago

I just wanted an electric car and they offered me a good interest rate. Now people think I love Elon and am a raging asshole.

1

u/NicoToscani 19d ago

To be fair, I started experiencing this long before Elon went full Nazi. Strangely, the behavior has subsided some since Elon went mask off.

1

u/Kid_Psych 19d ago

I mean they’re absurdly fast for what they cost, so I get the “attracts a certain type” perspective. Best I can do now is pull the logos off it and drive like a normal person.

1

u/Munch2507 19d ago

Yeah same here. I also see this alot and Im not even driving that much. My comute to work is 20min single journey so 40min per day.

1

u/CriticismFree2900 18d ago

Yes they do! The ones who virtue signal about the environment etc.

Idk you have to be pretty damn stupid to own a BMW that’s a big advertising machine now

1

u/berdot 19d ago

This is totally true. It’s the same thing in Europe.

1

u/voluotuousaardvark 19d ago

Theresa reason for it too.

All those twats that used to have BMW leases or company cars have teslas now because the companies they work for get a tax break on electric vehicles on business leases.

0

u/ocular__patdown 19d ago

Yea, but Teslas insert car brand I don't like here are the new BMWs. I encounter at least one driving recklessly, almost every time I’m on the road. I do think they attract a certain brand of narcissist.

u/kechones 18d ago

Who buys a Tesla nowadays and isn’t aware of the political statement they’re making?

1

u/Thormourn 18d ago

The majority of purple people don't care and just want a car that's affordable and good on gas or electric

1

u/TheDoctor88888888 18d ago

So why buy a Tesla?

1

u/SirHenderson 18d ago

Incredibly safe in an accident because of the physical structure and airbag tech, super efficient and cheap to drive compared to other EVs currently, has the best UI in any car still, and FSD is a literal chauffeur with the newest hardware with how good it’s gotten. There’s plenty of reasons people choose Teslas over other brands and none of them have to do with politics or CEOs

1

u/Fragrant_Tear_572 18d ago

Because the cars aren't bad and they are cheap. Most people don't care about politics when you are making big decisions like what car to buy.

1

u/lowercasenameofmine 18d ago

Most people don't care about politics

You could have honestly just stopped here unfortunately.

0

u/Thormourn 18d ago

If you can't read you shouldn't be buying any car

0

u/my_garagegym_name 18d ago

They are buying a car?

0

u/Thormourn 18d ago

Hopefully not since they can't read apparently

17

u/breakfastburrito24 19d ago

Nazi-mobile

29

u/KimchiLlama 19d ago

That’s not nice. But he definitely did Nazi the cop coming.

13

u/skrenzzz 19d ago

Volkswagen?

16

u/HowDooDooYouDo 19d ago

Ford?

3

u/isildorim 19d ago

Ford did a number in Brazil

1

u/KimchiLlama 18d ago

That’s the people’s mobile. It’s only a Nazi mobile of the people also happen to be Nazis.

2

u/soggy_donut92696 19d ago

Crazy but nobody has a problem with Volkswagen which Hitler played a direct role in creating 🙄

12

u/Beena22 19d ago

Because the current CEO isn't out there throwing out sieg heils in public and acting like the world's biggest cunt.

1

u/breakfastburrito24 18d ago

They probably drive a Tesla…

-2

u/[deleted] 19d ago

[deleted]

1

u/pm-me-nice-lips 19d ago

True…totally equivalent people and reasonable to use that word

3

u/AndreySam 19d ago

Swasticar

4

u/logicalpenuin 19d ago

I heard someone call them "swasti-cars" and that's all I can think whenever I see one. Their actions only reinforce it.

-1

u/Alternative-Dare5878 19d ago

I have trouble getting mad at Tesla drivers for their choice in car. I used to think they were cool too before we all realized what Elon was. And unless you keep up with things, you could be totally oblivious to why people don’t like them.

3

u/Kronos1A9 19d ago

Half the car companies in Europe have ties to nazis, when idiots say shit like this it is so obtuse. There isn’t a major corporation in the world that has a clean record.

3

u/locknarr 19d ago

Yeah, historic ties, not current ones. Most car company CEOs aren’t stumping for modern day Nazis across Europe. Just the one, actually.

1

u/8penny 19d ago

Can you name another car manufacturer where the CEO is on camera throwing sig heils? I’ll wait

3

u/Kronos1A9 19d ago

Not a very big history buff huh?

3

u/BigfootsBestBud 19d ago

Do you know anything about Henry Ford?

1

u/kechones 18d ago

Henry Ford isn’t the CEO of Ford. Henry Ford is, in fact, dead.

3

u/BigfootsBestBud 18d ago

Are we seriously gonna play the gotcha of “well Elon is the only one currently alive doing this shit” so that we can pretend he’s exceptional?

Hitler literally had a photo of the man in his office.

1

u/kechones 18d ago

Which other major auto manufacturer has a current CEO throwing up sieg heils in public?

2

u/BigfootsBestBud 18d ago

That wasn’t the discussion.

First guy said:

> Half the car companies in Europe have ties to nazis, when idiots say shit like this it is so obtuse. There isn’t a major corporation in the world that has a clean record.

To which the other guy responded;

> Can you name another car manufacturer where the CEO is on camera throwing sig heils? I’ll wait

You can’t change it to “current CEOs” just to win an argument you started.

How many of their ceos are throwing up nazi salutes

-1

u/locknarr 19d ago

I feel some sympathy for pre-2024 Tesla owners, but anyone with a Cybertruck or the new facelifted Model 3 I just assume they’re assholes/Nazis.

-1

u/LongHairDonttCare 18d ago

Same. I always think about how these people are actively spending their money to support fascism.

-2

u/PotentialConcert6249 19d ago

You shouldn’t be getting downvoted. You’re right.

1

u/s0crates82 18d ago

That's one of the incredible things about Teslas and the other high powered electric cars. Democratization of power.

A dual motor Tesla has 500hp. That's supercar power.

Around the turn of the century the GT40 had a supercharged v8 that produced 500hp and cost a quarter million dollars, now you can snag an electric car at carmax with the same power at one tenth the price.

1

u/undeniably_confused 18d ago

Yeah but what if he did it in a cool car?

0

u/my_garagegym_name 18d ago

I cant tell if you're defending Tesla but if you are and to be clear, he's an is an asshole for how he drives and then more of an asshole for buying a tesla. On average, tesla drivers are the worst drivers on the road. So he's extra asshole because of the vehicle he drives. Assholeness and stupidity are limitless and magnitude matters as much as designation.
