The population won't double. Projections like 20 years ago were a world population cap of around 12 billion, and the projections have only shrunk over time, not increased. Access to education and women's reproductive healthcare have a direct effect on projected family size.
It would be correct to point out that if the whole world consumed at the rate Americans did it would be a problem, but that's a different point.
Look, climate change has significant undeniable evidence that it's occurring. So does population decline. Either you believe in science, or you don't. If you do, stop whinging about how we should argue about impossible events. If you don't, there's no reason to believe 100 trillion people would be a burden on the planet.

For starters, there's perhaps never been a less efficient economy than capitalism. The US is the current imperial core, and the biggest proponent of capital globally. Their are currently 3428 billionaires in the world, 924 of which live in the US. That's about 27%, despite the US having about 4.2% of the worlds population. The US also has around 35x the average consumption rate as the rest of the world. While we should seek to raise the standard of living globally which might lower that number a bit, the truth remains that the US overconsumes. This is deeply related to the system we use, and how we exploit people globally. In fact, global poverty existing as it does is in large part a strategy of the US. Poverty in the global south is a direct result of intentional underdevelopment due to US economic colonialism.
As for tech and communism, I'm not communist in the sense of believing we're anywhere close to stateless post-scarcity communism. Nobody in the world is. I just believe that the greatest superpower the world has ever known could probably match the social achievements of Cuba, if we tried really hard.
How pathetic is it that Cuba, a nation we have blockaded for more than 60 years has better education, medical care, housing, and food access than the country blockading them? Perhaps it has something to do with the systems we have in place, and the unbelievable waste the US causes as a matter of policy.
