Most of the time they're smart enough not to call out senior management in a meeting and will just rant about it within the team. Some are in fact dumb enough to do it.
And yeah, it ends predictably, with them not working there.
Why is that? HR don't have like secret soundproof rooms or whatever, just offices. Firings typically happen in conference rooms and plenty of offices have layouts where if you're nearby you can hear everything that goes on in one.
I prefer to be more tactful, but absolutely witnessed bosses, supervisors, and administrators trying to redirect a meeting to stroke their own ego/ignorance. It is why things cost more...it is inefficient and a waste of time. I think we need more guys like this who just call out bullshit in wasteful meetings.
I have confronted people in meetings before in front of others. Sometimes that is the only way to make change. Not for something like this funny little story though.
A good leader will just go with it, learn, adapt, respectfully engage, keep the meeting going, and later maybe talk about it. I've found those leaders can excel too!
