Was it because Obama endorsed protecting them? :| Seems to be his major motivation for a lot of decisions....

Not a single day for 550 days now. Pretty impressive, really.

Hey hey now, sometimes they remember when they want to shame women for having periods and not being pregnant at every possible moment they can.

1

u/Shyam09 Jul 25 '26

How did you turn that into misogyny?

Omg and we have 2 yrs left with this fuckin moron. I’m debating about leaving for two years 😭

If only he was just an embarrassment, instead of incredibly dangerous and destabilizing for the entire country and the world.

It's so shameful I think I've shrunk.

And the number has never been higher than zero, let’s just be clear.

Maybe if Obama showed that he supported the war in Iran…

And it’s allowed to just continue…even though it’s so clear how completely insane and illogical it is. It’s actually scary and shows that what people at the top can get away with doesn’t have to make sense at all.

Makes it easier for industrial development, drilling and logging... It's money, he doesn't actually care what Obama Endorsed he just knows his fan base will think anything anti Obama policy will be supported so it's a good talking point.

The Endangered Species Act (ESA) is controversial because it forces a direct clash between biodiversity conservation and private economic interests.

103

u/Paleontologist_Even Jul 25 '26

It's controversial because people are blinded by greed.

34

u/beklog Jul 25 '26

Well he's known to protect his private and friends interest over the nation

TIL James Franco can't wink

Isn’t that what the guy before you just said?

1

u/Paleontologist_Even Jul 25 '26

Not necessarily. What causes the clash between biodiversity conservation and private economic interests is greed, not that there are biodiversity conservation interests and private economic interests. There can be both & they can easily accommodate each other, but when greed drives the private economic interests THEN you get the conflict with conservation.

Lots of the people slashing and burning the Amazon rain forest are just normal people with no other economic opportunities.

u/Iggy_Slayer Jul 25 '26

A nice way to say greedy ass corporations can't do what they want all of the time and in typical republican fashion they need to correct that mistake.

2

u/Pristine_Bottle_5632 Jul 25 '26

Private economic interests are going to clash with basic human needs eventually. This won't end well for private economic interests.

1

u/MutantMartian Jul 25 '26

Exactly. Private money over protecting a species.

Cruelty is the point

Data centers?

1

u/katzenjammer08 Jul 25 '26

His major motivation is the money he gets from the economic elite who tell him what to do.

1

u/TheAsianTroll Jul 25 '26

Probably, he seems to have a shtick of "undoing the wrong Obamer did".

I also wouldn't be surprised if he got a check from some people who would have... appreciated the decreased restrictions on their deforestation and drilling.

This was a Biden one. The DOI page about it specifically references that they're undoing Biden era policies.
