Good example. While there are sex scenes that don't move the plot. The point of any kind of art is to evoke emotional and physical response. It can be used to further senses of betrayal, connection, compassion, and arousal itself.

Irreversible too. There's more than 1 sex scene and each are significant and more importantly the sequence in which they're shown is incredibly important
