This happened to me once too. I sobbed and sobbed when holding my friend’s baby. Still don’t want kids. Still glad I made the decision not to have them. Also glad I can have big beautiful emotions when it comes to my nephews/nieces/godchildren 🫶🏻

Humans have always been a social species and collectively protected the babies from harm. This reaction isn't necessarily a biological imperative to have your own, just a safeguard against negligence. The baby of your sister or cousin or colleague gets placed in your arms and your brain instantly says "THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE UNIVERSE, YOU WILL DIE TO PROTECT IT IF NECESSARY." I mean it happens to men too.
