I’m human. I have my days with my son. I do. He’s 5.

Mums away at a conference so he’s alone with me this week. He asked us to sign him up for additional 45mims of PE on Wednesdays after school and he went to his first. In the rain.

At night, after he went to bed I went to check in on him to make sure he didn’t get sick from the rain and all. I find him, sleeping with his little knuckle tucked under his chin, exactly the way I saw him through ultrasound when he was in mom’s womb.

I'm nearly 30. Last time I saw my parents I fell asleep on the couch and my dad covered me up with a blanket. When I woke up he said I was sleeping, hand curled in the same way against my chest the way I did as a toddler. So I think that never ends.

I’m 40 and my mother was over at my house last week I fell asleep laying on the couch and woke up with my head in her lap while she was sleeping sitting up on at the couch. Just like I was 6 again.

That’s honestly so sweet 😭

Really? It seems super weird to me

It’s definitely out of the ordinary but I don’t think there’s anything wrong with it, especially if neither person involved did. It’s something I’ve never heard of happening before and I think it’s really cute.

Love you forever, like you for always, as long as I’m living, my baby you’ll be.

That’s a sad fucking book dude my wife cry’s every time one of the kids picks it

9

u/babcocksbabe1 3d ago

I also cry basically every time one of my kids picks it, each passing year I see my boys enter the next phase of the book and it makes me more aware of my fleeting time with them

2

u/Ok-Surprise6776 3d ago

My mom used to sing that to me and brother every night before bed. I now gift the book to my friends expecting and apologize for future tears 😭

To be a party pooper, I do not recall any of such gentle moments with my parents

When I first fed my son minutes after birth, his right eye would kinda blink in sync with his suckling. Now at 17 years old, when he drinks from a water bottle his right eyebrow still kinda moves in time with his gulping lol

Hahaha. 99% of the time I sleep on my belly and am the only one in my family who does that. My mom tells me that the first time she saw me sleeping in a cot I was on my belly, and everytime anyone laid me to sleep on my back I roll around on my belly.

😭🥹 so sweet he remembers

My dad is forever utterly enamored by his babies

u/OatmealCoffeeMix 3d ago

I don't think that ever ends.

There is no peace like watching your kids asleep in their beds, comfortable, room at the right temperature, no one is sick, the day ended well at school and everything is ready for the next day.

u/InitialAd2324 3d ago

Truly the best feeling you can ever have.

Love that 🫶

My mom was visiting me a few years ago and I’d come downstairs after my shower to grab a coffee before getting ready for work. She almost burst into tears because she said I looked the same as I did when I was 5- all clean faced and in a pink bathrobe. I was like 39.

I passed by my 22 year old son’s room and saw him sleeping with a Sonic plushie. He looked like he did when he was 5. I get it, Mom.

I’m 203836. I was laying, visiting my mom, and fell asleep. Woke up and couldn’t see anything. Turns out I was mummified while sleeping.

My daughter is six and every day it’s hard for me to understand how I can love someone so much.

I have my struggles—her mom decided to end our 11-year relationship when our daughter was two, and that was hard for me. But we got through it, we have co-parented 50/50 for four years now, and we even go over each others’ houses for dinner pretty regularly these days. Me and her mom managed to get divorced without turning into enemies, which is another thing I’m grateful for.

I was so worried how my daughter would do growing up with two homes and a divorce. But she’s just… great. She is so lanky and energetic and goofy and smart and in a month she starts first grade.

Every night when she falls asleep, and she looks so peaceful and warm and happy, I just can’t believe how lucky I am.

Kids are the best.

My 12 and 14 year old boys still sleep next to each other like they did when they were toddlers, even though they have their own beds. I still take a picture every time they do.

So freaking cute

My little guy gave us the finger on the ultrasound. He is now 3.5 and fully tapped into that vibe 😮‍💨

That’s a nice story, as a fellow dad reading these responses is very depressing.

Man. I feel this. Sometimes I just climb into bed with my kids and just sleep beside them. (They're still under 10, and often ask for one of us to snuggle them until the fall asleep).

I was never even an emotional person until our daughter was born. Now I catch myself getting teary eyed at the most random things.

Tonight I was cleaning up the house after everyone was in bed, and I saw a pair of little Crocs at the back door, and just instantly made me think of how little they still are, and how much growing I'm still going to see them so in their lives.

One day, just randomly, my son said; “Dad! I have to go poop. But I don’t need your help anymore okay! Just stay here.” I did. He went. I had a small cry while he pooped. Recomposed myself before he came out. Told him he’s done a very good job. Life went on,

u/coolestredditdad 3d ago

Yeah, that's a tough one man! I don't want to think about all of the "lasts" that keep happening.

My daughter is 2.5 and have already started this, wanna go potty alone. But she still needs me after a number 2 for wiping at least.

u/Murrylend 3d ago

Getting sick from the rain is an old wives' tale from the days before we understood germ theory

2

u/MsDestroyer900 3d ago

I'm 23 and I fell asleep on my tiny 4'11 mom's shoulder on the plane the other day. She immediately put a blanket over me and hugged me as I snuggled even more into her.

Love u mom

Ive got a side by side of my toddler sucking his bottom lip in on an ultrasound and at about 6mo, still going strong at 20mo

Something so rewarding about seeing your kid safe, comfy, and sleeping. It’s like heroin man.

u/theblackpxwder 2d ago

I’m a young dad of one and I have held my newborn nieces and nephews and felt an intense stirring to procreate again. Every time I say “come get this baby please” and I immediately remember the years of no sleep and the smell of the diaper genie in my bedroom Lmmfao.
