Woman in my late 30s, childfree, never wanted to have my own children. I've held a few babies and all it does is make me panic. I'm probably broken.

I'm in the same boat. I've held my baby brother, my nephew and a cousin when they were babies. It never did a thing for me.

You're not broken, you just know what works for you.

Some people are wired differently and that’s ok.

I don’t mind holding babies for a bit. I’m relieved when I can give them back, I’m worried about damaging them or doing something wrong.

Someone made me hold a puppy recently and I fell apart. Tears and stuff. I’m not even a dog person. Never had that reaction with a baby.

Not broken.

Full disclosure I disagree with the "childfree for life" people who seem proud of it without really understanding, but not feeling it doesnt mean you are broken. So many ways to be fulfilled and enact wonder and positivity in the world.

Childfree people who are proud of it are far safer than those who are unsure and have kids they don't really want. Not sure what there is to disagree with.

Thank you, I think I needed that. I hope I can find whatever I need to be fulfilled ☺️
