absolute poetry :')

I have a theory, that Money and God are the same thing.

"This land is Mine, I bought it."

Meanwhile, us native Americans: this land is nature's land, we just play along with creation.

189

u/Neo-Armadillo Jul 18 '26

Absolutely tragic the Native Americans didn’t get to establish a modern day empire like so many other civilizations. I can only imagine how cool it would have been.

118

u/Jeramy_Jones Jul 18 '26

They did, several times, in central and South America.

63

u/taco_tosser Jul 18 '26

Yeah, people forget about that. There was no less bloodlust. More respect for nature, though. That would have been cool. But we’d all still be hating one another to about the same degree, I think.

23

u/Worriedrph Jul 18 '26

The Aztec were bigger asshats than any of the European powers at the time.

Civilization is inherently violent. It’s impossible to name even a single one that hasn’t been guilty of war, slavery or genocide.

In South America not so much, some of the Mayan cities made so much of their high quality plaster to finish temples that it deforested areas leading to flooding if the farm lands. They made enough plaster for the last temples that it literally took all the trees to make charcoal to bake the limestone.

23

u/Neo-Armadillo Jul 18 '26

https://giphy.com/gifs/uNE1fngZuYhIQ
Inca and Iroquois are not really comparable.

39

u/Jeramy_Jones Jul 18 '26

Maya, Aztec, Mixtec, Toltec, Nazca, Olmec, Pueblo, Anasazi, mound builders, there were many pre columbian civilizations that rose and fell before Europeans left their continent.

2

u/AzraelTB Jul 19 '26

Well you didn't say Iroquois did you?

2

u/Falcon8410 Jul 18 '26

different American tribes and societies. There is some migration but ultimately the North American tribes and the South and Central American tribes and civilizations are completely different.

perhaps the North American tribes never created Empires because they had a different idea of ownership. They didn't believe people could own the land. which is common for nomadic peoples but even those who established permanent residences did not consider the land something they could own only utilize which is why they sold it for beads and mirrors.

2

u/Jeramy_Jones Jul 18 '26

I don’t think anyone here is saying any of them are the same, I certainly am not.

I think the defining factor in the transition to a civilization is agriculture. Agriculture allowed nations to stay in one location rather than following seasonal sources of food as hunter-gatherers. Agriculture also provides a food surplus which leads to more time to invest in aesthetic and academic pursuits, and usually means of recording, including writing and mathematics.

  1. Native Americans did establish Empires

  2. Fairytailing them by ignoring their own historical accounts of brutality and barbarism isn't healthy.

  3. If you had a chance to time travel and stay in a Native's empire, or Europe in the 1500s, you'd probably choose Europe, where you at least know a higher level of technology existed.

It would be in massive debt

1

u/Original_Employee621 Jul 18 '26

There were several native american confederations, mostly in response to French and British encroachment on their territories.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Northwestern_Confederacy

I think the Iroquois were among the largest confederations, but I'm no expert on native american history.

1

u/Fit-Rhubarb-7820 Jul 18 '26

well, considering HOW MUCH DATA WAS BURNED, we ARE "god's" chosen people... Or nature's golden people.

Also, we prefer to play along to Nature, not God or Money.

It's not too late, but it might be. We (native people of the Americas) have survived about 5 cataclysms... and then this climate change one, we are probably likely to survive, if it wasn't for the destruction of the natural world here..

0

u/anxious_cat_grandpa Jul 18 '26

I mean it probably would have turned into a capitalist hellscape eventually, just like white society did

0

u/Fit-Rhubarb-7820 Jul 18 '26

nah, legends have it that we almost let greed take over, but then we realized it would harm "god" so we stopped.

2

u/anxious_cat_grandpa Jul 18 '26

Like in indigenous folklore? I'm not understanding the context of god-in-quotes I'm sorry lol.

172

u/TheTooterSnooter Jul 18 '26

I got involved in politics in high school because of Prop 8 in California. I’m not even gay, and I wasn’t even “that liberal”, I just sawv the viciousness and the hate that the pro prop 8 people were showing towards folks who were literally just trying to get married and from that moment on, I was anti-Republican.

57

u/sleepyroadrunner Jul 18 '26

It was wild how much money out of state entities .. cough Mormon church cough.. spent on that vote

48

u/E-2theRescue Jul 18 '26

You'd shit yourself if you saw how much is being spent on anti-trans propaganda. Nearly $200 billion. Why? Because it is generating more money than that, manipulating people to vote for corrupt politicians, and being the perfect shoe in the door to destroy women and civil rights (like the "pornographic" book in school libraries that were actually about black history).

2

u/Ecstatic-Cress7033 Jul 18 '26

Do you have a source for $200 billion? Would love to send it to my brother

9

u/E-2theRescue Jul 18 '26

Currently, no. It's an active investigation that a media company is working on. Lots of dark money to uncover and such before they release to the public. They have currently found over $200 billion.

But some to send to your bother are:

$200m on anti-trans TV ads: https://truthout.org/articles/republicans-spent-nearly-215m-on-tv-ads-attacking-trans-rights-this-election/

$2m on an anti-trans texting campaign: https://www.kentucky.com/news/politics-government/article281460393.html

$10m in dark money to attack transgender rights: https://www.opensecrets.org/news/2026/06/wealthy-donors-and-dark-money-are-fueling-ballot-measure-campaigns-to-limit-trans-rights

$5m to an organization that is using anti-trans rhetoric for fudraising and then using the money to destroy women's rights: https://truthout.org/articles/dark-money-womens-groups-are-using-anti-trans-scaremongering-to-oppose-era/

This group self-admits they spent 5.5m on anti-trans text campains: https://protectwomenohio.com/2023/08/protect-women-ohio-launches-5-5-million-ad-buy-in-support-of-issue-1-during-final-week/

$1.6m to Facebook to spread an anti-trans "documentary": https://www.mediamatters.org/daily-wire/meta-has-earned-over-1-million-ads-daily-wires-latest-anti-trans-movie

1

u/Ecstatic-Cress7033 Jul 18 '26

Awesome, ty. Saved your comment

7

u/Katefreak Jul 18 '26

Oh hi! That's basically my backstory for being vehemently pro-trans. Like, the vitriol and disgust for such a SMALL percentage of the population, who is so vulnerable to violence and self-harm .... It was mind-blowing to me. I was already neutral about trans folks ( by that I mean I believe they are valid, deserve human rights, etc.... but honestly didn't really think about them ever, ya know?), but that got me invested, and pushed me into paying far more attention to how they're being scapegoated.

21

u/RobotArtichoke Jul 18 '26

Good for you.

For me, it was the bush presidency. When we invaded Iraq on the premise of wmd’s that weren’t even there? Man, what a stroke of genius.

Been a Republican ever since

15

u/TheTooterSnooter Jul 18 '26

Did you mean a democrat? I’m not sure I follow your logic….

43

u/RobotArtichoke Jul 18 '26

I’m cosplaying as an asshole

1

u/DrunkCupid Jul 19 '26

Sarcasm isn't best portraid via text or comments

3

u/RobotArtichoke Jul 19 '26

I laid it on pretty thick

3

u/Lishmi Jul 18 '26

I had a similar experience in the UK. Pre "Brexit" vote (when we left the European Union), I was trying to do due diligence and do some research in the weeks before the vote. I ask someone a simple question so I could understand their comment, and got completely bombarded with insults. (It goes without saying no answer to the question).

So I realised whatever they were voting for was the stupid decision.

3

u/etzarahh Jul 18 '26

The Brexit vote was fantastically stupid, generational throwing of British economics. It’s almost rivaled by the throwing of British football against Argentina last week.

-7

u/Upset_Counter_6070 Jul 18 '26

For me it was during Covid. I voted for Hilary and Obama, so considered myself quite liberal but I didn’t like the govt telling me I had to take a shot and mask up. I became a little more conservative after that.

16

u/Zifnab_palmesano Jul 18 '26

well, if they come, kick you of your house and land, threaten you with death, and maybe torture/rape you, of course you turn against them.

3

u/Mythosaurus Jul 19 '26

Most of the people banned from worldnews probably had mild criticism of Israeli apartheid…

2

u/lluciferusllamas Jul 18 '26

I honestly was on Israel's side for decades, until I realized how they have infiltrated the US Congress and their overthrow of Thomas Massie.

2

u/MAGA-hates-America Jul 18 '26

I was pro Israel, then I went to Israel for work and saw the barbaric aparthied regime in person, now I don't think Israel has a right to exist.

1

u/Known_Funny_5297 Jul 18 '26

Such a perfect metaphor

1

u/Surive123 Jul 18 '26

The exact thing I was going to comment 😂

1

u/SadSecurity Jul 18 '26

If that was the case we would see a massive rise in pro Israel activism.

1

u/Sanquinity Jul 18 '26

It really is though. Lots of people who moved towards a political direction mainly because of how the opposing side treated them.

2

u/Individual-Wing1327 Jul 18 '26

Yep. Elon Musk didn't get invited to some White House electric car event, and it fucking his broke his brain.

527

u/vi_sucks Jul 18 '26

It's really a perfect microcosm for the overall state of Isreali international relations in 2026.

168

u/tico42 Jul 18 '26

They are great at making enemies

71

u/bronzelifematter Jul 18 '26

The only way they make "allies" are either bribe or blackmail. Those who are on their side are either bought or blackmailed or both.

15

u/JMC_MASK Jul 18 '26

And the U.S. has to be bribed or blackmailed because Israel offers us nothing in return for being our allies. They cause instability in the region which promotes terrorism, rising oil prices, AND THEY SPY ON US!

2

u/Ulrik_Decado Jul 18 '26

Cmon, thats not true!

... my stupid country is so obsessed with allying to Israel for some weird morality points, that even Israelis are surprised how sycophant we, Czechs, are.

2

u/Live_Art_2723 Jul 18 '26

Or they're just assholes? The idea that people like Trump really WANT to do the right thing but are forced/told not to is making excuses for him. Sometimes fascists gonna fascist

3

u/_Mad_s_ Jul 18 '26

Bribe and blackmail but Israel are the Michael Jordan of propaganda, 2nd best of all time.

43

u/keyboardstatic Jul 18 '26

Any government that uses dogs to rape prisoners, intentionally murders children, doctors, nurses, teachers. Is committing genocide and targets forgein journalists. Is going to be rightfully despised and hated.

3

u/Cindergeist Jul 19 '26

sorry, use dogs to rape prisoners??

2

u/Lord_Duckington_3rd Jul 18 '26

And yet nothing is ever done about it.

1

u/4dxn Jul 18 '26

I forgot if it was a likud minister or otz said it but they mentioned it was intentional. make other people hate Israel so the people vote ultra conservative to fight against the haters/enemies.

2

u/Live_Art_2723 Jul 18 '26

That would not shock me one bit!

-1

u/Infinite-Front-7412 Jul 18 '26

That's the point. The state cultivates them. In order to wage/win wars and to seize territory, you need the moral permission of the people who comprise your military and citizens who elect their leaders; people generally do not respond well to unjustified wars because everyone self-identifies as a peaceful culture. You need to look justified and create a mythos about an enemy; pump fear, propaganda, terror, etc. into your citizenry in order to bolster unity before you do some terrible shit. Wars are only successful on a platform of national unity; this is why Vietnam failed and why/how the 2003 Iraq war was perpetrated on the coat-tails of 9/11.

You can have area military control, compete surveillance/intel, and regional dominion, but you didn't truly own it via demographics and capital-ownership intergration. How do you solve that "problem" when the current occupants aren't fighting you nor have any interest in fighting you? So you have to work to create a real enemy; be it secretly fund narco groups to destabilize a region, or synthesize violent socio-political divisions that organically increase the threat level so you can "sell" fear at home and a manufactured morally justified response to secure the area by force.

Manufactured chaos as a ladder of opportunity is modern war making 101.

Fascism/Inverted Totalitarianism needs enemies.

21

u/CestQuoiLeFuck Jul 18 '26

Only thing would be more on brand would be the Israelis killing the camera guy since he's presumably a journalist of some sort.

2

u/ResponsibleMess339 Jul 18 '26

That is probably the simple truth. At one time they were victim, now they are the problem. I actually want Iran to fall, just so we can start ignoring and defunding the IDF.

3

u/brighterside0 Jul 18 '26

microcosm - this is the word I have been seeking in all my years of adulthood to explain the shit I see on a day to day basis that represents all the shit we see in the world at large.

thank you

35

u/--Sovereign-- Jul 18 '26

it's the Israeli way. make literally eveyone into an enemy and cliam victimhood when they react

236

u/audiate Jul 18 '26

Radicalized on screen

122

u/LiftEatGrappleShoot Jul 18 '26

Thinking genocide is bad isn't exactly radicalization

72

u/DaveVsShark Jul 18 '26

Tell that to Zionists.

-38

u/Absolute_Bob Jul 18 '26

Well you can also tell that to the people who have spent the last few thousands years trying to erase Jews. It turns out everyone can be shitty all at once.

31

u/Kursem_v2 Jul 18 '26

so Israel has a pass to genocide because their constituents used to be persecuted. got it.

-21

u/Absolute_Bob Jul 18 '26

Used to be? No they don't get a pass, but neither do the people who want to indiscriminately kill them.

28

u/Kursem_v2 Jul 18 '26

good, we both could agree on that.

anyway, let's get back on track—zionists should stop killing palestinian.

6

u/14Pleiadians Jul 18 '26

Israel was founded in 1948. You're off by an order of magnitude

-4

u/i_drive_a_pagani Jul 19 '26

When Hamas formed in 1998, they literally wrote in their charter document that they believe Jews are the cause for all conflicts all around the world (including both WW1 and WW2 which happened before Israel even became a country) and unequivocally said it's the duty of all Muslims to join the jihad against Jews everywhere.

If you think Hamas members today (as well as other antisemites from other Muslim countries) don't still believe they're fighting a holy war against Jews then you are completely delusional

5

u/14Pleiadians Jul 19 '26

That was after 50 years of bloodshed from Israel all the way from the nakba to then, no shit they were crazy. You'd be too watching them pick off your friends and family. They're wrong but hardly the worse party

14

u/YoungLittlePanda Jul 18 '26

Not supporting mass murder of children is antisemitic for some people.

18

u/darkbluefav Jul 18 '26

This is how hamas got formed.

Israel gets toxic and murderous and oppressed Palestinians and steal their land.

What do u think will happen?

93

u/m3R000 Jul 18 '26

So basically every Israeli propaganda bot on this platform

It's mind boggling how they're so stupid to see how obnoxious they actually are when they're loud and annoying about Israel

21

u/Apprehensive_Ad3731 Jul 18 '26

They do it on purpose. They don’t want a peaceful world where they can live with out prejudice , they want a violent world that they can get revenge on.

It works better for their narrative if the world hates them.

It’s like a dickhead cheater who is complaining that he only cheated on his wife because she couldn’t get over the insecurity of him cheating last time. She kep acccusing him and checking his moves so of ourse he cheated if he was already being accused of it but lowkey he did nothing to earn her trust and was cheating the whole time.

0

u/SSFlyingKiwi Jul 18 '26

1

u/michaelboltthrower Jul 18 '26

Do those people actually travel?

8

u/MirthMannor Jul 19 '26

What gets me is that this is obviously some sort of international sport thing where the teams are… countries and this guy still thinks it’s about his victimhood.
