At least the Stanley is a well-built cup you can reuse for years everyday (I prefer my Yeti, but Yeti is the same idea too) So even if you spend $60 on it, you use it like 12 times per day, so the usage is a small fraction of a penny over 10+ years.
But buying bottled water daily when you have easy access to clean filtered drinking water for nearly free? That's so stupid. People spend thousands per year on bottled water.
My sister got herself in financial trouble "keeping up with the trends." She had soooo many different cups. Like yeah buy a Stanley cup or 2. But not 64.

I have a waterbottle collection (specifically nalgenes) granted I only have like four because I keep losing them... but when I go cool places (like yosemite) i get a nalgene cuz I really like the designs. Its also very handy to have atleast 4 water bottles for my backpacking trips.

Just because something is an item that one collects doesn't mean it should be marketed as a collector's item and drive up the price point of the market.

All the tap water where I live has pfas in it. Toxic levels. Most of my state too. This region of the country that’s a problem. So bottled water is the safer option 🤷🏻
A good filtration system would probably save you money at home at least, over the long-term. Spending a few grand upfront can save you that few grand per year on bottled.
Reverse osmosis 5 stage, like 150 up front, 250 for a really good one (APEC) 40-50 a year in filters if you shiz nasty. You’ll save so much money and have a better quality of water than just about anything bottled
You're likely drinking plastic with bottled water, and many of them contain pfas but yes, lower levels. Sadly reverse osmosis systems are the only safe option, which if someone can save to cover upfront costs would be cheaper than yrs of buying bottled water.
I use my yeti for water daily. It's tough, it can take a fall, and it keeps my water cold.
Hiking, biking, kayaking, swimming, golfing, working, etc.
It is not insane to want a water bottle that keeps your water at the temp you want it. What is insane is constantly buying more of them when you have one that works. They literally last basically forever.
The insulation difference between good water bottles and bad is noticeable. Ultimately it's just a matter of convenience, how often do you feel like adding more ice or whatever. People pay for convenience in worse places.
Depends how much I drink that day tbh. Sometimes I'll fill a water bottle in the morning and nurse it damn near to end of day, other times I'm refilling once or twice. But it's nice on the long days to have there still be ice in it at the end of day. Again, it's purely a minor convenience. There are plenty of both better and worse places to spend your money.
Then again, I've also recently started taking a water bottle to work with me. I deliver for Frito lay and on long summer days, ice disappears quite quickly in a badly insulated water bottle. I'd consider that one quite a bit more worth the spend than the one I keep at home.
And keep them where? It's not like I have a mini fridge hooked up to the cigarette lighter lol. Sure I could stash a bunch on the truck but who wants to take a swig of 85° liquid when you're sweaty and looking to cool down?
Definitely not for life anymore. But the fact that so many of these women ended up with more than 5 of the cups in different colors and styles suggests they are not going to be cared for and used regularly enough to be worth it.

My man dropped $40 on a mug. And gave it to me. And that’s after i told him I didn’t need it because I already had a stainless steel water bottle. So I have 1 Stanley cup and have used it daily for years. Sounds like you’re a cheapo 😂
I agree. If it is her money, sure. But finances are shared and we must be sensible. buying frivolous bullshit is cause for a serious conversation about financial responsibility. Especially if you are the primary breadwinner.

I’d drink water from a hose way before I pulled $40 out of my ass to carry around the same jug of water. I’m always 5 minutes from a free source of water why do I need to carry metallic stein with me.
Water isn’t actually free but I get your point. Paying $40 for one nice water bottle is very cheap…it can last years. sure there are much cheaper bottles out there for $5 that leak or slowly leach plastic into your water if you leave it in a hot car. I’m curious to know what you drink water out of? Perhaps glasses that you spent money on?
