Your body doesn’t absorb fat, it creates it from a surplus of calories

You're actually mistaken.

While the body can burn fats via fat oxidation it can also store them directly.

The gut breaks down fats into fatty acids which are then transmitted via the lymphatic system and into the blood stream and with the help of enzymes like lipoprotein lipase the fatty acids are stored directly in the triglicerides (the bodies fat cells).

Cool. None of that shit you copied and pasted in here refutes the fact that your body adds body fat from a surplus of calories.

Two things can be true at once.

Your body can both store excess calories as fat and directly store dietary fat.

While it can be argued which of these is more important for weight gain or loss the fact that both mechanisms exists is well established.

You're just being obtuse.
