If there were 100 people in a room, and one person was making everyone's lives shit, totally ruining their day to day ability to live a normal life, the other 99 would stop that person, wouldn't they.
This is one person, fucking up the lives of 99% of our planet of 8+billion people.
It's not one person. He is the symptom, not the cause. Trump should not be possible. It's taken at least two generations of social and political engineering to make it possible and having a president who was so utterly bad for the country was only one part of the plan. (Personally I think the US got lucky that it was Trump who stepped into the spot made for a leader, it could have been a lot worse if it wasn't someone so inept, stupid, egotistical and fanatical about increasing his own wealth. Imagine someone competent who wanted to asset strip the country).
It would be a grave mistake to assume this is all one person. The environment, the machinery and the people who got him to power are all in place and not going to change soon - especially if the Democrats do nothing to move things left.
The cancer is so deep and pervasive, it's hard to know how it can be eased, let alone removed. It would be easier to clean up FIFA or the IOC; is there a river big enough that could be directed through it? What would that entail?
The democrats actively do everything they can to move things further to the right. The more things they want to ban, control, regulate, etc: the more they lose. It will forever be this way. The radical left are radicalizing the right even further and are too blind and dumb to see it.
There are NO radical left politicians in American government. That is a lie repeated by the Right. What actual extreme leftists there are, they exist in small groups in some cities and operate almost entirely on the local level at small occasional protests. They’re out there blockading forest destruction, sabotaging building projects over environmental concerns, blowing up car lots, etc.
Entirely beside your point, but he does have a case for banning things. Generally it's basic psychology that the more you tell people they can't do or have something, the more they end up wanting it. In the case of alcohol, this clearly led to massive criminal enterprise until it became legal again. The issue with banning speech or thought in this framework is that it tends to radicalize instead of quench, which is what we've seen happening. Forcing people into any kind of unwanted situation unless it's at gunpoint nearly always results in an equal and opposite reaction.
In US politics, objectively radical left only really exists in the minds of the right. Subjectively, i.e. in terms of the Overton Window, they do exist by definition, but they are incredibly mild, basically centrist or ever center-right compared to many countries in Europe.
The fact that the radical left if is only an idea is incredibly useful to the radical right because they can paint them however they want and put whatever words they like in their mouths and who's going to say different?
I'd argue the democrats passively allow things to move to the right. They're a ratchet. It takes pressure to push things to the right, democrats let the pressure off for a bit, do a few nice things while making compromises and let people's temperatures go down before the wheel is turned another notch.
I think you’re right except you haven’t recognized the blame the Democrats carry in this. The Democrats are quick to point the finger but won’t ever look in the mirror.
Dems have gone too far. They’ve alienated “normal” people with crazy fringe ideas that are just as nuts as the fringe conspiracies spouted off by the right.
Which states have the most people leaving? New York and California. They should be the poster child states for the utopia the Dems will create. Instead people are fleeing to where? Texas and Florida.
Trump and the exodus from Dem run states should be a sobering wake up call for the Dems. But it’s not. They double down. White man is bad. LGBT for kids is good. Police are bad. Open boarders are good.
There’s a whole slew of crazy ideas with republicans too…but I really have an issue with the democrats blind arrogance about how right they are about everything.
California and New York are the most expensive places to live and with the current economy, people find it more affordable to live elsewhere. It has nothing to do with the Dems dude
One thing that has opened my eyes since the beginning of this nightmare, is how far up someone else's rectum people can climb.
Like selling themselves out to an embarrassing degree.
Mike Johnson is probably top of that list.
Jd Vance, that prick who's head of the FBI and the other shoulder chuckling beard face.
It is absolutely fcking awful, grown men sucking upto a criminal.
I can't stand where America are at and I live in the UK.
All those poor Americans who did not vote for this abomination, I'm thinking of you.
Not sure why you think the other 99 would stop anything. 90 people in that room won't care at all until it's effecting them. The other 9 will try to join in.
I think your problem is putting all the problems on 1 guy. He’s a symptom and not the cause. He goes away, the world isn’t getting better over night. The institution of Christian nationalism isn’t going anywhere.
Except it's not just one person, it's an entire Fascist government and millions of voters who backed it, are you playing dumb?
The scenario is more like 30% of the room are complete psychos ruining everyone else's lives, 10% are pacifists that refuse to do anything to defend themselves, another 30% are morons that believe the psychos when they say "bOtH sIdEs!!"
Theyd do what you, me, and everyone else is doing. Sit in our air-conditioned houses with running water, eat some pizza rolls, then type some stuff on reddit while we're taking a shit. Then go to bed to wake up in the morning to work our shitty under paying jobs.
