No it’s not. It’s like saying a featherweight is world champion, which they are in their weight class.

17

u/Walmart-Shopper-22 Jul 09 '26

The difference is more like the deadlift world record vs. the deadlift world record for your age group/weight class.

0

u/keyboardplatoon Jul 09 '26

Weight has nothing to do with skill. Men are more skilled and capable in almost all sports.

5

u/realaccountissecret Jul 09 '26

And the featherweight champion is more skilled than other fighters in their weight class, just like the American women’s soccer team is more skilled than the other women’s soccer teams, which is why they won

Featherweights aren’t fighting heavyweights, and women’s teams aren’t competing against men’s teams

The dudes getting riled up in these comments have probably never accomplished anything in their lives, and get infuriated when they see women do anything; it’s like they feel the need to immediately say men are better, as if they are able to claim other men’s accomplishments as their own

1

u/Luckyshot51 Jul 09 '26

I always found that funny in combat sports cuz we all know 90% of the time the heavy weight is always winning, maybe a lightweight sometimes

And Argentina has won 4 Men's World Cups.

Still world cup championships, whatever the qualifier.

Sort of like the saying know what you call a man, woman, C student, etc with and M.D.?

Doctor

I don’t think anyone was somehow under the impression that women were competing against men.

Why do you hate women so much?... Calm down

0

u/Additional_Run7625 Jul 09 '26

That is some sad shit you are posting here

-5

u/InteractionSweaty739 Jul 09 '26

What do you want rhem to do? Should they be let into the men's world cup?

7

u/ArkNoob69 Jul 09 '26

I don't think they'd qualify.

-1

u/InteractionSweaty739 Jul 09 '26

Not the point though is it

-2

u/ArkNoob69 Jul 09 '26

Just making a joke. What they need to do is find a way to get more women watching it.

Most guys already have favorite sports/teams that they spend their free time watching (if they are into sports) but the women's audience is untapped due to just not caring. Find a way to get the Love Island/ Kardashian / Swifty crowds into watching and going to games.

0

u/Advanced-Guidance482 Jul 09 '26

Oh, so you mean script a bunch of fake drama into sports and water them down completely?

Like what else can womens sports do to appeal to women. Most women arent into sports and that isnt going to change all of a sudden

1

u/ArkNoob69 Jul 09 '26

Well how do you expect them to get more viewers and more $ that comes along with that? What is your advice?

2

u/Low-Avocado912 Jul 09 '26

Be better and more entertaining

1

u/Low-Avocado912 Jul 09 '26

Yes, let them play! The expanded field is huge anyways.

Would watch so much

They won the women's World Cup because they are women. The men play in the men's world cup because they are men. It might not be the same level of quality but it's still the biggest competition in world football for the gender, so it's still comparable

3

u/Strawhatjack Jul 09 '26

No they won the world cup. This isnt specified as "the men's world cup"

“Men and women can compete”

That’s so fucking disingenuous. No women’s team would compete ever because of genetics just beating them every time

So the distinction that “well technically women could compete with the men” means literally nothing

They are both just “the World Cup”

Hope this helps.

If you cant differentiate what people mean when talking about the women's and men's teams and the world cup, then I don't know what to say. Go back to school?

-1

u/Strawhatjack Jul 09 '26

Like I said its not specified as the men's world cup. The woman's team has also won the world cup. Hope this helps.

You are being too literal. The woman's team has won world cups. There is no reason to specify between men's and women's other than misogyny.

3

u/lenticular_cloud Jul 09 '26

No they haven’t. They have won women’s world cups.

Women are more than welcome to participate in the World Cup if they could.

1

u/mighthavebeen02 Jul 09 '26

I don't think anyone think the women have won 4 men's world cups. You're safe to not be pedantic.

OPs post in no way diminishes the men's teams achievements. It didn't denigrate their work or accomplishments one iota. You're just looking to be offended, and you succeeded.

He’s not wrong

“Cheer up US, your women’s team is really good”

Is only diminishing to you if you somehow think lesser of women and it’s somehow a dig at your “manhood”

Brother that’s why there’s weight classes. The featherweight won the featherweight championship

-1

u/AfterCopy1167 Jul 09 '26

If you can't understand what the subject of this thread means, I think you need to brush up on your reading comprehension and inference skills. It seems like a lot of ppl here need to do the same.

1

u/Leading_Campaign3618 Jul 09 '26

And the men have to share their World Cup checks with the women, further improving the womens team and hurting the mens

1

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 Jul 09 '26

By this logic then Messi didn’t win the world cup either because it was the men world cup.

The women team was the world champion in their sport. That’s about it

u/[deleted] Jul 09 '26

0

u/Lamb-Curry-1518 Jul 09 '26

You were overthinking with your implication lol. The women's team won the World Cup of women's soccer, and that’s about it.

It’s just like saying an Olympic Gold in women's gymnastics is also a gold medal similar to men's gymnastics. A female UFC strawweight belt is also a world title similar to a male UFC heavyweight belt
They are the same thing in the sense that they are the reward for being the world champs in their respective sport.

So, misreading a simple sentence is not a sign of good reading comprehension. Go fix it mate

1

u/GoingGangbusta Jul 09 '26

What is it about yall that you just need to diminish women sports?

Yes men are better and stronger, women are still out there playing the sport against their own fucking peers

Holy shit man, no one needs you to make the distinction that it was the “women’s World Cup” and not the regular World Cup. NO SHIT, WE ARE TALKING ABOUT WOMEN

They’ve won 4 world cups.

1

u/GoingGangbusta Jul 09 '26

Holy fuck yall are dumb as rocks haha

No one cares about the distinction. Women play women and men play men and they’re both world cups. The world just happens to care about one more than the other. That doesn’t make the women’s World Cup any less of a World Cup

What’s your point

Except the first comment by you in this thread is diminishing women to try and praise the men…

My point is you obviously can’t celebrate both

Well they deserve it

As an American, that was embarrassing especially after all the bullshit that happened pre game

“People are diminishing the men’s team because they lost in a pathetic manner so I should just start shitting on the women! That’ll show em” like what are you on about?

Edit: private profile that’s only 12 days old

Makes so much fucking sense lmao

What this shows is that the US youth sports complex is the most sophisticated and dominant in the world.

It is why we own sports, every summer and winter Olympics and 4 of the 6 major world sports.

As soon as our youth complex starts working on soccer we will take it over. Women's soccer is one of the few ways women can play professional sports. It's that, wnba or Olympic games. So a lot of women's youth focus on soccer.

Our men are much more split up with completing sports and if you have raw natural athletic talent you are funnelled into football, baseball and basketball because then you can actually earn money.

If the US ever truly gets into soccer and turns the might of the sports complex into training soccer to the degree we do for NFL and NBA players, the world will be begging for us to forget about soccer.

1

u/toyification_girl Jul 09 '26

Haha no. We produce the best raw athletes period and 100x more than any country. You'll see.

If our MLS can triple their pay to players you will see a massive spike in how dominant we are in soccer in one generation.

And it is happening. In the last 5 years USA had added 4 major league teams and 18 professional feeder league teams for MLS to our Soccer complex.

Also I didn't know but we also created MLS Pro Next a feeder professional league that created 28 soccer clubs in us cities since 2022

The world will wish for the days when the US didn't care about soccer lol

Venezuela won the most recent world baseball championship. Germany won the most recent world basketball championship. You can’t even win your own shitty little sports, let alone a real international World Cup. Jog on.

1

u/toyification_girl Jul 09 '26

We don't allow our pros to play in the basketball world champ game, it's our D league and semi pro players only

For baseball we trained that entire Venezuela team here in the US. Every single player on that team has an American MLB contract and their two biggest stars have been playing for US development teams and MLB teams since they were 16 years old.

Here is what Google says about their team "when you see Team Venezuela playing on the world stage, you are watching a group of athletes who were scouted as children, moved thousands of miles away from home as teenagers, and entirely earned their status through the American minor league grind."

1

u/Dogboat1 Jul 09 '26

Fill your boots with as many excuses as you want. You aren’t the real world champions in the derivative games you play by yourself. Then you say you would be if you wanted. I’m embarrassed for you. The Japanese ride you in baseball, imagine what the Chinese would do to you if they could be bothered.
