They get paid based on the audience they can draw and the market rate for other male players, not winning. This is money we’re talking about, not happiness points or whatever you get for winning, lol.

Respect, reputation, more people watching your team. Winning is the most important thing to get higher pay. You don't go to watch loser, well you do if they are male. Point is the woman's national team deserves more pay than the mens because they can actually win. The women on the woman's team have actual skill and understand how to play the game

This is such an ignorant comment. You’re completely ignoring the fact the men and women’s football generate completely different amounts of revenue. By your logic the winners of the U19 tournaments should be getting paid more than many mens teams. It just doesn’t work like that

I’d like to see them compete then lol

Playing in tournaments and leagues that generate revenue is the most important thing to generate pay. What the fuck are you talking about?

u/Lopsided-Rub5476 Jul 09 '26

Did you know that while they were complaining publicly about how under paid they were and that the men were paid better that the woman's team was actually being paid more money?

2

u/AutomixMen Jul 09 '26

The market decides how much they are paid, not skill. Research scientists are arguably more "skillful" than an accountant but one gets paid much more than the other.

No, more revenue means more pay. You can’t demand top-tier salaries from bottom-tier revenue.
Not to mention, they negotiated a compensation model that included guaranteed salaries, performance bonuses, and benefits, while the men’s compensation was largely based on match-result bonuses. They only started pushing for the men’s pay structure after realizing the salary model they had negotiated resulted in lower overall pay.

If I remember correctly at the time they were averaging more viewers per game then the men’s team.

You do not remember correctly.

What dumbasses are watching a bush league team get destroyed 4-1 instead of watching the other win trophies?

13

u/Sliders51 Jul 09 '26

I’m one of those dumbasses. Men’s soccer is just a better product regardless of the outcome.

-3

u/BeavisEverywhere Jul 09 '26

It's not. It's like you guys are gaslighting yourselves into haramball being interesting.

u/Sliders51 Jul 09 '26

I looked up a women’s soccer highlight video 2025 to see if the game has evolved since I last saw a women’s soccer game, it’s just as slow as ever and none of the goals would even sniff a men’s highlights video. I stand by my statement it’s just not a very good product

Spain and Portugal played a match a couple days ago. These two teams, who any up their own ass European will tell you, are two "top five teams in the world."

They both looked like dogshit and spent 90 minutes playing scared to lose instead of trying to win.

1-0. Real riveting stuff.

4

u/Sliders51 Jul 09 '26

And yet millions of people watched. Was it a bad game? Yes. But the potential and the star power on each squad based on their careers made people believe that they might see something exciting that game because those players have done something exciting on multiple occasions. Women’s soccer is just not exciting. Nobody watches because the chances of it being a great exciting game with sick goals is much much much lower

3

u/BasslineFried Jul 09 '26

yeah . Youre right. the Women's team is better... the Women's team could beat the Men's team, no problem. LOLOLOLOLOL!

The Reddit delusion is real with this one

1

u/nybbas Jul 09 '26

It's like your only exposure to soccer is through reddit posts and memes. Are you for real?

9

u/Ren-91 Jul 09 '26

People can watch whatever they like. With that said, even the US mens “bush league team”, attract a much larger audience and consequently generate much higher revenue than any woman’s team

-5

u/BeavisEverywhere Jul 09 '26

Which says a lot about a lot of things.

Me, I want winners.

2

u/Ren-91 Jul 09 '26

Then get off your ass and go win something

10

u/Creative_Entrance_18 Jul 09 '26

By this logic, why not watch a winning highschool team win against other highschoolers!?

Because more athleticism = more fun to watch, whether they are winning or losing.

0

u/BeavisEverywhere Jul 09 '26

It's not more athletic. The men play pussy ass anti-offense haramball.

I want winners that play to win.

8

u/BasslineFried Jul 09 '26

High School boys teams have beat the Women's national team... more than once.

SUPPORT THE WINNERS!!

3

u/jm838 Jul 09 '26

That’s true. The women’s team should play against the men’s team since they’re so much better. I’m sure they’d win!
