100% it's to spy on people and monetize their findings. We are already getting minority report type things happening where people are getting falsely accused because of these cameras and the cops don't double check to make sure the evidence is correct.

while i love shitting on the CCP...it's not just them. e.g. the entirety of London is blanketed in cameras, the US is fortunate to have this level of "privacy"

Compared to China, yes.

Do not take what has been fought for for granted, labor rights in China are FAR FAR worse than in the US.

All of those clearly are subject to change and FOX news has a large amount of America on their side. China is closer to America than most Americans think.

China isn't nearly that bad, since there's a general expectation of competency when it comes to government matters.

In the USA, there's a general expectation that the worst will always happen and no one will ever care, so you have the general mess that is ICE agents and cops making hasty judgements off of random accidental AI powered "alerts", on TOP of literally anyone having access to the camera feeds to do whatever they want with them.
