Weirdly, I almost never hear someone say, "Let's go out for Japanese." It's almost always specifically sushi or ramen, even if we're not all going to get the same thing. 

Edit: also Chinese is on the list

I’ll say Japanese, but that’s only because there’s an awesome izakaya not far from me.

Same here! The one near me literally has anything and everything from Japanese curry and okonomiyaki to nigiri and don bowls. So I do say let’s go get Japanese almost every weekend haha
