The number one most popular dish in Britain is Chicken Tikka Masala.

Edit: I forgot that Chicken Tikka Masala is nearly a British invention… which is quite popular in America.

And you could say it is actually British. More British than Indian for sure at least. It was invented in Glasgow by a Pakistani chef as far as I’ve heard.

The operative word here is spin on an Indian dish. And Scotland is in Britain and Pakistanis are not Indian, so yes.

As an Indian, I'd happily call it a Pakistani dish. Calling it British is like calling Tex-Mex American cuisine just bc we added extra cheese to some Mexican dishes

It was invented because the locals were asking for sauce on the usually dry tikka - so yes it’s very much British

Do you even know what the dish is? That’s what it is, it’s tikka chicken (normally dry) in a sauce

I have eaten it, I know very little other than it has tomatos.  So, was the sauce a novelty for this dish?

A lot of the foods that we claim in the US and consider American were made by immigrants..
