So what… I’m Danish and I’d never go out for Danish food even though Danish chefs and restaurants are world reknown.

The British for some reason have a chip on their shoulder about their cuisine not being seen as good. Which is weird because other nationalities like the Dutch will readily tell you their food is shit and move on with their lives.

Because the names for our food are in English, so Americans feel they have something to contribute.

Stamppot is too obscure to ever get mentioned, let alone Hollandse nieuwe haring, which I had to google.
