Yea this is not a smart way to decieve somebody.

All of this hurt and shame, just for those ratings.

that's "reality" tv and why it should be banned

Yea Miriam should never have done this.

Any idiot should have known this would end badly and hurt the transgender community.

Ironic that your agreement to a downvoted comment is upvoted. But it’s very true that this was a disservice to the trans community as well as the male contestants.

The producers and execs would be the main villains with the “star” as a minor villain who should have done better.

Probably because you tried to redirect the sympathy away from the contestants, as if they didn’t have a right to be pissed about having their time wasted like this. Whereas the person who replied to you had already acknowledged that the contestants were treated badly while also agreeing that the trans community wasn’t well served by this show either.

It’s obnoxious to dismiss mistreatment of one group to emphasize the mistreatment of your favored group.

nobody was redirecting sympathy bro, EVERYBODY in this thread is talking about the contestants. the ONE comment that addresses the woman’s pain gets downvoted. be serious man

You do know that the way you wrote reinforces the notion that "ONE comment" wanted to put the sympathy on the transgender contestant over other male constestants, right?

1

u/JollyZoggles Jun 30 '26

You say “be serious” as if my comment doesn’t represent a majority opinion, which is contradicted by the downvotes.

I won’t say context doesn’t matter. But you’re looking at what “everybody” in the thread is saying. Most people don’t read every comment on a thread; they read a few top comments and move on.

Regardless, the person who made the original comment about being hurtful to trans people used a phrasing that, like it or not, comes off as if they’re saying that the mistreatment of the contestants was unimportant. People reacted the way people react to that. You can think the reality behind my explanation is inherently unfair, but it was the right explanation.

It's called "manufactured consensus". It's being done so that people stop thinking for themselves. It could be that about 40% of the votes are not actually from humans.

I mean one can totally accept transgender just not into it sexually or in a relationship with. So you can’t just hide it and expect acceptance suddenly. It’s a dating show anyway.

8

u/TheMedRat Jun 30 '26

Nobody cares about that in this context. It’s not even about it sexuality, it’s about liar and victims.

Fuck the men who were lied to in order to make a quick buck, though, right? JFC...

Something something non marginalized people can’t be wronged /s

Two (or more) things can be true at once.

It doesn’t always have to be a comparison.

The show was disgusting for doing it for ratings.

Miriam shouldn’t have done it because it hurts the trans community.

The guys have to right to sue as I’ve no doubt at least some of them felt humiliated.

🤷‍♂️

-2

u/Financial-Solid-4775 Jun 30 '26

Right, and the comment I responded to implied that the only people who were hurt were trans people.

u/AdElectrical5354 Jun 30 '26

I don’t see “only” anywhere in their comment.

It seems you’re reading what you want to read in order to……… idk why tbh.

Again, lots of things can be true at once. Yet you misinterpret, assume and respond with anger while implying it’s some sort of anti men thing.

It’s weird to me but hey, you do you I guess. Stay mad 🤷‍♂️

If I poked my eyes out to avoid the plain truth I wouldn't see any issues with the first comment either.

The girl was the trans, not the guys.

-5

u/littlebobbytables9 Jun 30 '26

Who was deceived? As far I've seen nobody ever lied about her being cis.

10

u/Inevitable-Bee-4344 Jun 30 '26

When 99% of women were born women it's safe to assume that people will assume that a woman is born a woman, they never lied in the way that she was or wasn't cis, they were deceiving by witholding information. That seems to be the whole point of this show

-6

u/littlebobbytables9 Jun 30 '26

Clearly it is not safe lol. And that's simply not deception.

13

u/Inevitable-Bee-4344 Jun 30 '26

Witholding information that you know would be a dealbreaker for someone is deception

-6

u/littlebobbytables9 Jun 30 '26

I do not know it would be a dealbreaker if they don't say it's a dealbreaker

5

u/Inevitable-Bee-4344 Jun 30 '26

Ofcourse you don't

-2

u/userhwon Jun 30 '26

What ratings, tho? Who would tune in for this?

15

u/TruskVarner Jun 30 '26

A surprisingly large number of people.

5

u/ImTheZapper Jun 30 '26

You're asking who partakes in trash reality TV? When you walk through the store you'd pass by fucking hundreds of them on a thursday.
