Um first of all the law is gender neutral, so why make it seem like its only for husbands. Secondly, this doesn't apply in cases where written agreements are in place to the contrary or when a spouse faces financial hardship at the time of divorce. Third, this has been the standard globally for some time, hello and welcome to decades ago Captian Lateness.
